What’s driving the drop:
•Visa uncertainty: Sudden policy shifts, tighter scrutiny, and longer processing times have made U.S. study a high-risk bet.
•OPT no longer reliable: Students are no longer confident they’ll get post-study work authorization or keep it if rules change midstream.
•H-1B odds worsening: With lottery odds still low and wage rules tightening, the “study ? OPT ? H-1B” pipeline looks broken.
•Cost vs risk mismatch: High U.S. tuition with no clear path to work or residency is pushing students elsewhere.
Where students are going instead:
•Canada, the UK, Australia, and parts of Europe are seeing rising Indian enrollments, offering clearer work pathways and more predictable policies.

Now get them out of hotel and convenience store ownership too. Americans need to own and operate more of Americas businesses.

Probably has to do with college degrees being worth less than they ever have been.

Meanwhile, deodorant sales remain unchanged for stores near universities

Yes! More American students to be indoctrinated by Marxist university faculties.
Don’t get me wrong, I like fewer Patels.

Don’t need a degree to work at a family owned Subway or gas station

Why would they need to enroll if they are guaranteed a tech/ customer service job with no education?

Full report pretty clearly connects it to reduced pathways for long term careers in the US/residency.
Which shows that the university situation is broken to begin with in terms of international students.

In most cases, Americans willingly sold these businesses to Indian families. Now, most of them are filthy and only employ family members. Some of them seem to work at the business every, single hour it’s open.

The degrees the Indian students get are not worth less than they used to be. Those are the ones lazy American students are getting, especially women.

Nice
my son is a student at a P5 school this year and his racism against SE Asians and Indians is 10x what it was when he left my house in August.

Good for nothing tricksters.
And they stank.

I disagree. I got an engineering degree in 2000. I had over 10 offers coming out of college and basically named my price.
An engineering graduate today doesn’t have that luxury, but is probably paying more than triple the costs for the same piece of paper. Indians are wising up.

Engineering is oversaturated to the point to where new grads starting out earn between $80k and $90k. It’s nowhere near as prestigious of a field that it used to be.
