If Kiffin is here for say 5yrs, what's your true expectations?

He's well paid, he's got the NIL money, he's got a great year one class coming in... so what would be a true representation of his success in a 5yr time frame?
I'd say the floor would be 3 CFP appearances, 1 SEC Championship and 1 National Championship.

That's a high floor and I'm here for it. We are giving him somewhat of a blank check to win so he better have serious results.

I would expect him to win a championship. If he can’t do it here with the amount of money LSU is spending and in state talent, he won’t ever win one.
Edit: It very well may take longer than 5 years but I don’t think he wins one if he leaves LSU after 5 years without one. If he’s in the playoffs several times and stays at LSU he could get one after the 5 year mark but I think he gets it done in 5. Kirby Smart and Ryan day both won it in their 6th year if I’m not mistaken.

Look I'm all aboard the Lane Train and I think he can kill it here and win Championships.
But the fricking floor can't include 2 things he's never done before and another he's done once (you're calling for 3 in 5 years).
We can be excited and highly optimistic without being retarded.

Win baby win and enjoy the journey!
Just think, this is the best off season we have had as Tiger fans….
Start to enjoy the journey, most times it’s better than the destination!

The BAW is here to win BIG! Like Saban level …

Oh here with go with the condescending, annoying “low expectations” crowd. The floor can’t include one SEC championship in a 5 year span considering he’s one of the highest paid coaches in the country with one of the most expensive rosters in the country? Gtfo, you’re clueless and you’re just being a contrarian for the sake of it

3/5 years in playoffs , it's not like other programs (Texas , bama, A&M) aren't committing similar resources.

Playoffs 3 years and at least 1 championship appearance, preferably winning it.

I don't know what my true expectations should be yet. I know he can recruit, and expected him to recruit at an even higher level here, which he has, and I know he can win games. I don't know if he can win big games until he shows it. We're all assuming, or hoping, that he's going to get over the hump with better resources, but that doesn't always automatically translate.
I have high hopes. The talent he's brought in is extremely exciting, and we know he'll produce offense. But I can't put a ceiling on him till I actually see what he does with the talent that he's never had (to this degree) before. My floor is rather high, though. Whether or not he ever wins a national championship, I think LSU should make a 12 team playoff just about every year under him.

It should be the expectation. 13 mil salary, loads of negative press hiring him(perception does matter at times), what boils down to a 40 mil roster in year 1. If not for yearly playoff expectations, competing for and winning a title, why waste all that money? The people spending it have those expectations you can be sure. Ask Brian Kelly.

That's right. I don't think someone's floor should be doing something they've never done before. Going forward I think winning the conference with a 9 game SEC schedule when not all 16's schedules are created equally is harder than winning the 12 team playoff. Do I think he wins one or two?: frick yes! But that's not the floor man
I'd set the floor at a couple of 10 win seasons with a 1/12 shot in the tournament where anything could happen.
The ceiling is 5 Natty's.

He’ll be here longer. If it’s only 5 years, then it went terribly wrong

Not to mention the cost of the staff. Baker is making a shite load for a coordinator.

It would be a success if he beat Alabama every time we played them!!

Money aside, he has to get these kids to buy into what needs to happen. That's the issue with a lot of programs now. Throw all the money to some kids that are there strictly for the bag. You need to get kids in there that want to be there because its LSU, because it's Lane Kiffin, because it's whatever the hell else. That's when you fight for something.

I disagree. LSU is paying a HUGE amount...because the expectations are high. Otherwise, why invest so heavily if you are going to have low expectations?
The CFP is 12 teams now, and will likely move to 16 in the next few years. 5 SEC teams reached the CFP this past season. I don't think it's all that unreasonable to expect LSU should annually be one of the 3-5 best teams in the SEC with the investment it is making
Obviously, the means of constructing a roster are very different now, but this is the closest set up to 2019 since 2019 from a coaching perspective. That is a solid, returning DC, combined with a very proven offensive staff. In fact, this is arguably a better set up giving Brady was a total unknown ahead of 2019. That's not to say next year's team...or any team...will be as good as the 2019 team, but there is justification for high expectations immediately.
The days of building a program by stacking good HS recruiting classes and developing guys over the course of 3-4 years are over and fans need to adjust their way of thinking. The "timeline" for a rebuild is extremely expedited. Hell, there's no better example of this than Indiana. Texas Tech also went from a 7-8 team to 12-1 immediately because of a huge investment in the transfer portal.
It won't be easy by any means given LSU's schedule next season. But if LSU isn't competing for a CFP spot in late November it will be a disappointment.
