Playoff appearance first year, playoff win second year, semifinals year 3, and championship by year 4.

We should be making the playoffs every year. Finishing out of the top 10 is not acceptable

make the playoffs at least twice, assuming the playoffs stay at 12 teams...if expanded to 16+, make playoffs at least four times...

As long he continues to get 30+ million for NIL he'll make the playoffs every year and win atleast 2 championships. We are going to win so much we will be hated like the 90s Yankees.

If Cignetti can win in year 2, then so can Lane.
I expect at least 1 Natty Win and 2 Natty appearances within 5 years.
CFP 4 of 5 years.
They playing field has leveled off now with more competition. It will be an interesting and hopefully fun ride.

Playoffs in 2 of those years…assuming no expansion.

I think that’s optimistic.

I think he will be here for 5+ years. The only way he leaves is possible NFL or being fired.

If he’s here 5+ years it means he’s successful and likely has a title.

what would be a true representation of his success in a 5yr time frame?

I'd say the floor would be 3 CFP appearances, 1 SEC Championship and 1 National Championship.

I would tend to agree with this. 1 NC and its a success.

In this day and age, I could care less about SEC CG, other than it means you are headed to the playoffs.

Imo the floor is the bare minimum to meet expectations. No floor should include a national championship, as by any definition, winning one is the pinnacle of the ceiling.

I would say the floor of my own expectations is 3 playoff appearances and averaging only 9 regular season wins a year over that time span. And I would be very surprised by this as he did more at Ole Miss over that time span, or would have if a 12 team playoff were in place the last five years.

All this talk, mention of National Championship, National ChampionshipS....

IS RAT POISON!

I remember Kim Mulkey's interview after her LSU team had just beaten their last/final opponent (game) of the season which resulted in them winning (earning) the National Title. She humbly discussed/explained/stressed how incredibly RARE, HARD, DIFFICULT it is/was for ANY Team, School, Roster of Players to end/finish the season with a National Championship! She continued by explaining that No Matter who/which Coach, Coaching Staff, Conference, Schedule.....even under the most ideal circumstances, situation @ the most iconic schools/programs with legendary Fan Bases support.... that a National Title & Trophy are extraordinarily hard, difficult to Earn! Mulkey said that with or without the very Best, most talented Individual Player/Players/Recruits.....whether healthy or injured....that any Title in any sport is indeed rare and should be honored/cherished!

LSU Coach Mulkey stressed that "IF or FOR" that Trophy to be Hoisted....it could, would ONLY happen or occur With + Under the Mindset/Attitude of Playing "1 GAME AT A TIME"! And regardless the outcome, the Entire + Utter (lazer) FOCUS must shift to on ONLY your NEXT OPPONENT!!

To become a National Champion......successful Coaches will then dissect that Mental Focus down to 1 PLAY AT A TIME.....and then further down to each individual PLAYER & POSITION performing/executing their specific role, duty!

Again.....all this talk, mention of National Championships is RAT POISON!

He might be on the chopping block if he doesn’t make it to the cfb final next year.

No greater or more certain way to set up a team's failure or lose what could be our greatest, most successful coach than to "look forward" or "expect" (demand) immediate titles!

"He might be on the chopping block if he doesn’t make it to the cfb final next year".

And that is what precisely worries me and fear has become typical and/or expected amongst many LSU fans.

Yes, I definitely want National Championships. But they are indeed Rare and need to be Encouraged/Supported - Built & Earned.... One Game At A Time!

LSU Fans are the absolute Best, Most Passionate, Energetic/Emotional & LOUDEST Fans on Earth - Ever. But this legendary energy/passion - if miss-directed at the wrong time, place, person, coach, game or season can KILL an ultimate goal or outcome.
