Essentially the centerpiece for the 2017 Astros scandal. Lied about his involvement only to find out he was among the orchestrators of the process.

Other notes - ARod and Andy Petit both saw a bump. Petit has two years left on the eval and will probably get over the threshold within that time.

Back to Beltran - he lost his manager job with the Red Sox as a result.

Do you guys believe he should’ve been in or no?

His performance in the 2004 NLCS games 6 and 7 ate the two best games ive seen by any player in person. Cards won both but Beltran was so good

Also watched both and he was incredible. He was part of the Killer Bees as well although at the tail end

I mean if you are going to crucify the Astros for the cheating scandal you have to crucify him.

But MLB won't admit he brought it from the Yankees, so he gets a pass to the HOF

MLB is weird. Petit admits to PEDs but gets a pass while Clemens is crucified and no chance of getting in.

Beltran was a fringe HOF but obviously the main guy who led the Astros trash cans and d taught them to follow many of the things the Yankees had been doing.

I think contrition helps - whether you think fair/justified or not. Clemens ain't ever admitting it. Now if he didn't do it good for him.....but we've seen plenty of these guys flat out lie about this in the same way....my thoughts are Clemens did for at least a while.

Mets... Cora was with the Red Sox but they hired him right back after he served his suspension.

And yes Beltran is a top 5 probably switch hitter of all time, he should be in.

Old guard baseball writers are the most pretentious group of people on the face of the earth.

To my knowledge it’s still, easily, the most difficult professional sports HOF to get into.

The problem is the voters and the completely mixed standards that they use in judging the worthiness of a player. As an Astros fan, I love Beltran, but I can also see some hypocrisy here.

They should form a Hall of Pretty Good. They can put it in Minneapolis. Beltran would be perfect for that.

No dodger, Red Sox or yankee can make it considering they were caught cheating also.

I want to get into the MLB, but hardcore baseball fans are some of the weirdest MFers I’ve ever seen.

I was listening to a podcast that had a voter on the other day and they asked him why he voted for Pettitte but not the others. His reasoning, and he said it was shared by others was that his admission was using HGH up to 2004 the year before the MLB prohibited it's use.

ARod and Clemens were said to have also used anabolic steroids, which were against the rules the entire time.
