Tiny little churches and community centers in Shreveport

I many parts of Shreveport, particulary everything inside the loop, there are countless small churches and community centers. There are half a dozen on the 2 mile stretch of Jewella north of I-20 to Cross Lake. Most of them are converted houses around 1200 square feet or small office fronts in older strip complexes.
I have always thought they were all some sort of graft, we need to look into all of these.

I can't look at anything now and not think fraud.

Well churches would have to get federal money through a mandated program.
So there would have to be daycare or a food pantry or whatever the hell else an imagination could come up with to get authorized federal bucks.
This would be different than what the Somalis are doing. Somalis just hang out a shingle and fraud.

With out even seeing them before they are grifting. Tax incentives most likely the commonality of them, receiving funding being a close second.

Churches have always been an easy way to grift, Not all but many, when I see the Bishop/Rev/Pastor driving a new bmw/merc/caddy it’s a grift.
Insert; after school/meal program and they are grifting.

Is that the area where the city built a library in a neighborhood where nobody can read?

Probably one of the biggest reasons I’m conservative is because it shouldn’t come as a surprise or shock to anyone when people spend other people’s money irresponsibly. It’s human nature when it’s not your hard-earned money.
Small government is the way to mitigate this.

Most small congregations can barely afford to pay a pastor a full-time wage. Having a pastor with a second vocation is not uncommon.

Do some basic investigation of your own. I used the maps app to pick one smallish church on the stretch of Jewella you mentioned. It’s a registered church but it’s also an incorporated Bible college and seminary.
I can see how churches would flourish there because of the huge apartment complex at the end of Jewella and residences in the neighborhood. It would be easy enough to look into the finances of the seminary Corp, who is on the faculty, who gets paid what, what support the government provides including student loans, etc. The assumption is the church and seminary are above board and an asset to the community unless you can prove otherwise.
