Kiffin and Kyle Whittingham

Why does Whittingham get a complete pass for doing the samething Kiffin did, yet Kiffen is hammered by the regional and national media?

I'm happy with the end result of Kiffin being LSU's coach, but lets be fair... not the same thing.
Utah was not in the playoff and Michigan is not an historic conference rival in close proximity to Utah.
On top of that, Whittingham's departure and subsequent hire was quick and to the point, while Kiffin's decoupling went on for damn near a month.

Because he didn’t

The two situations aren’t really similar at all.

Utah wasn’t in the CFP and Michigan always gets a pass despite their last 2 hires leaving in disgrace

A playoff game and a meaningless bowl game are two entirely different things. For decades, coaches have switched jobs between the regular season and the bowl season and been allowed to coach that last game. The importance of the CFP made it the issue that it is. With the BCS and a 4 team playoff, it was highly unlikely one of the head coaches of those teams would be switching jobs.
With twelve teams, including mid-major coaches, and the NCAA fricking up the portal and recruiting signing dates, its going to become more of the norm moving forward. Lane was just first.

Ole Miss is nothing approaching a “historic run.” They had a good season but they only got in because the playoff has expanded drastically. They have zero chance of winning a championship

It was because Kiffin wanted to do what you suggested he should do and complete the season with his team before leaving while OM was pressing him for a commitment.

Mostly because he didn’t. But secondarily, Utah wasn’t in the playoff

Not exactly the same situation nor does whittingham have the nomadic reputation that Kiffin does. If you don’t understand this, im not sure how to explain it to you.

Biggest factor IMO. The portal should be after the spring semester, and there shouldn’t be an early signing day. Leave it in February, on a single day, like it used to be.

Saban did the same thing at Michigan Statethat Lane did . You don’t hear a peep out of anybody criticizing Saban for what he did years ago right before he came to LSU.

Not even remotely similar situations.

Ok.
What does that have to do with anything I said?

If you can't understand why Ole Miss didn't want Kiffin to complete the season, idk what to tell you.
LSU fans wanted Saban and his family murdered because he went to Alabama 3 years after he left LSU for the NFL. Now imagine if Saban directly bolted for Alabama, how do you think LSU fans would've reacted?

I mean Utah pretty much forced Whittingham into “retirement” aka fired. Michigan didn’t luck into an elite coach. He was an elite coach but he’s gotten older and will not be successful at Michigan. This will be BK 2.0 for Michigan.

Because Whittington “stepped aside” a week before he was announced as Michigan’s coach
