My daughter noticed her back seat was torn a bit and there are mouse droppings. Anything we can do besides glue traps to get this fricker out?

Put moth balls in an old sock and leave it in the car for a few days.

Yes, your car will smell like moth balls but you can make the smell go away by removing the moth balls after the mouse has bailed out by driving a few miles with all of the windows open.

put a snap trap on the back floorboard with some peanut butter. those are pretty effective. Just make sure to check it regularly before you drive.

Currently have 4 of those right now on my floorboards. Hopefully when I leave work, it'll be stuck

Can't stand those little bastards. We have them around our camp, and it's an ongoing battle.

Mice can get into spaces that make you scratch your head.
No doubt it's found a path to inside her car and is coming and going.

Glue traps do work. You also may want to try Just One Bite- because it's never about dealing with "a mouse"- it's about dealing with "mice". Killing them is always the best option.

Also, I have found at my camp that they are repulsed by the smell of this spray called "Grandpa Gus'"....It's a heavy peppermint scent. They've left our tractor and ATVs/mowers alone since I started using it on them occasionally. Perhaps spraying under the hood (look for tiny tracks) will discourage them. I wouldn't recommend spraying it inside the car as it is a very strong scent in an enclosed space.....

Best of luck dealing with the little vermin.

Where is she parking it? Outside? Try another place in addition to traps, mothballs, etc. Up in NW Arkansas, it's the chipmunks. My neighbor spent $1200 on his Suburu to repair chewed wires, etc. He had an extermination company set traps, etc. and that helped. But the best deterrent was a stray tomcat he started feeding that slept under his back porch. That totally got rid of them. He first parked it in a different place, but they found it eventually. I bet he spent over $3K on car wiring repairs and extermination. But the stray cat was the cheapest!

We have chickens and if you have chickens, you have mice. I hate those bastards. They venture from the chicken coop over to the house or my shed when it gets cold. They have chewed HVAC ducts, engine wires, you name it.

I've tried trapping, I've tried shooting them with pellet guns (super fun), poison throw packs is all that works. Tough around the chickens because they would eat it too.

My oldest daughter once bought a pet rat from petsmart. She then sat in her car and opened it up to look at it and it jumped out and into her dash board. Took a week to catch. Lived for several years after that tho.

There's a frequency you can play on YouTube that repels them. Just wait until early evening when they're active, open all your doors and leave the phone on the backseat for about 5 minutes and go inside. I bet that sends them packing.

Snap traps, not glue traps (it's gross dealing with a stuck, live mouse - snap kills 'em quick). Get a dozen traps, the more the better, you want to get *all* the mice in the area, as quickly as possible. Set 4 in the car, a couple under the hood, and the rest all around the car. Any place they might hide.

I like to attach the trap to a long, thin board, then you can slip it into and out of places that are hard to reach, mice like to hide out there. Put them in the path along walls.

There was an hail damaged Jetta parked behind my office. Basically, scrap though the car still ran well. It had been sitting unrun for a while. My old Aussie saw a rat go into the hood area. She went (as typical) berserk - she was biting the fender trying to get at the rat. I popped the hood and jumped up into the motor area. There was a possum nest with a possum. RIP possum. She waited by that car for a few hours and snared the rat when he exited and tried to run into an old empty building nearby.

1 find where it is getting in and close it with steel mesh grate or steel wool 2 lay traps impossible to get them out once in without unfortunately. 3 check for nest in hvac system like above cabin air filter or engine bay
