Easy fix, turn off the portal, you transfer, you sit out a full year, and lose that year.

Why the frick do you have to visit when you just spent a whole season there? This sport is so goddamn dumb.

Eh, I respect this more than a lot of players out there. When he entered the portal, they didn't have a hire/staff in place. He is giving the new staff a fair chance and will also get a chance to meet with the other potential transfers coming in. If he was doing this while OSU still had the same coach, then i'd agree it is beyond absurd.

The single-time transfer rule was abolished as part of a settlement of a lawsuit brought by the DOJ and multiple states. Courts issued an injunction saying that the transfer rule violated the Sherman act. So, the NCAA seeing the writing on the wall, went ahead and killed it.

New coach and new staff? Think these guys go to check out the library and meet the physics department on their visits?

I suppose it's a little different because they have a new coach. He's probably more so visiting with the coaching staff than the school/facilities.

I understand that, but the transfer issue is the root of all the evil and problems, it has to be corralled.

Surprised he didn't schedule OSU last so he had a number to go back to them with.

I think "visit" is code for hearing their $ offer.

Transfer rules here to stay unfortunately… especially now that players get paid… you can’t interfere with the right to earn… if it was only scholarships up for grab policies could be put into place… i heard a lawyer say it’s nothing stopping a player from legally transferring mid season to play somewhere else but the injunction a judge would most likely grant to the NCAA that would prolong it so said player couldn’t participate in that season because the case would take too long… the season after though the anytime transfer rule would more than likely be in effect

We dont let NFL players move from team to team at their whim every year. They sign contracts which lock them into place somewhat.

Schools and conferences can and should have contractual rules that players have to abide by

College football is reaching that stage where Fonzie jumped the shark.

CFB was so much better when STAR players (the ONES name/ image/ likeness was assumed, created for) were rich under the table and the rest were bondservants, who had to prove they were worth $$$ at the next level.

Now EVERY jackwagon gets paid, regardless if they have as much future as a Professional as posters on here. What a fleecing turnaround by the "student-athlete".

They also have a collective bargaining agreement with their employer

To be fair, there’s a legitimate chance he’s never stepped foot on campus aside from the football facilities

They are about to have their first season w/o Gundy in the house since the 90s. He's actually doing Okie Light a solid by letting the new staff try to sell him on staying.

I think the NCAA is trying to avoid this because it would make them employees of the school. But, it seems like this is where it’s going to.
