Shrinkflation, rising costs, etc. but no one talks about Big Card

I saw a standard, paper Christmas card for sale for $6.59. Almost $7 for a single card. And try finding any ‘normal’ card for less than $3 now. Most are closer to $5 per card.
It is an interesting (shadowy?) industry that is a part of almost all of our lives and no one seems to give it much thought.
But I admit the greeting card industry seemed pretty based during 2020 when it was like ‘keep licking the envelopes to seal them we aren’t changing anything’.

Greetings card prices are the only reason I go to Dollar tree.

Sorry your cards are more expensive, grandma.

We make our yearly stop in Dollar Tree for all our Christmas card cash/gift card holders.

We get a few ads with sample Christmas cards sent to the office. I take the sample cards, sign my name over whatever fictitious company they have in the sample card, and send the cards to my relatives.

People still give cards? Just hand them an envelope with cash are a gift card. 99% of the people couldn’t care less about some dumb greeting card that the giver spent hours trying to find the “perfect” message

Why even use an envelope? Or take the time to fold the cash.

I bought 3 last minute Christmas cards from Walgreens. It was $32 for 3 cards and a package package of Hershey kisses.
Oh, and of course I had to check myself out because the ghetto clerk was on the phone and playing with her nails.
Insanity to pay that much for a damn greeting card.

Da fuq are you doing buying *anything* at a drug store but prescriptions?

You should buy in bulk. You can get like 50 cards/envelopes for 15 dollars from Amazon.

Any store with "dollar" in the name has greeting card for cheap....and people you give them to are only going to toss them in the garbage anyway...so go cheap.

Yeah as others said, either dollar tree, or order in bulk online. Paying $6+ for literal trash is crazy. I tell family to not even bother getting me cards. Just put an extra 5 on the gift card you were gonna shove in there and I'm much happier.
I'll fold a blank piece of paper and draw a crude happy birthday message on it like a toddler before I get a lavish greeting card .

I have never received any sort manufactured card that I have kept for more than a few weeks.
I have more than a few handmade cards from kids, nieces, and nephews stashed away.
This is a super easy problem to solve.

Just get a minority-themed Christmas card. They are generally cheaper. Does anyone really care if Santa Claus is black?
