I know Lane is great with the portal. I know the portal can cover deficiencies and solidify weaknesses. But there are so many holes..you need QB’s plural, another RB, a couple receivers, a whole offensive line, defensive linemen..not to mention your evals are going to have to be spot on.

I’m not saying it can’t be done but I think next year is going to be more challenging than most on this board realize.

I mean we are spending 40 mil in NIL. I think expectations are justified.

Agreed! There will be a lot of holes to fill but this is nowhere near as bad a rebuild as what Kelly had and his year one turned out pretty good. As frustrating as it may be in this new era things can be turned around pretty quickly.

Extremely tough schedule and complete overhaul on both sides of the ball. 9-3 or 8-4 is a great possibility.

8-4 or 9-3 is my take.

How can a person be expected to deal a winning hand when he doesn't even know what cards he has?

Yep. Saban went 7-6 his first year at Alabama. Next year will be the calm before the storm.

Fanduel set their early over/under for LSU at 9.5 next year.

Kiffin totally rebuilt his Ole Miss teams the last two seasons adding over 60 portal players plus recruiting classes.

Things can be turned around quickly in NIL era.

We’ll see.

Does it look more challenging than the end of 2021 going into 2022?

Does this new coaching staff look better or worse than the staff Kelly started with?

I am not expecting a national championship, but I do expect a better season than this one, hopefully in playoff contention in November.

Tempered expectations for the low information crowd ….. 9 wins in a season that begins 9 league games and LSU gets short straw with 5 of 9 on the road………

I don't agree with this at all. We got the guy we wanted and gave him the means he said he needed to do what's needed in this era.

Last year Ole Miss had more talent than they had this year, including a veteran QB who is starting in the NFL now and they lost a bunch of that talent.

Kiffin went out and got 31 transfers or some such and while they are not as talented this year as last, had a better season.

And he said....not me.....Lane Kiffin said the LSU brand will allow him to do just that but better here than there.

So - NO I will not temper expectations nor IMHO should anyone else.

Tend to agree with that. Team will be much improved but I'm not expecting playoffs next year.

I don’t think anyone is going to be up for the “judge me in year four “ thing again. It doesn’t work like that anymore.

Lane needs to make a statement next year. Not a championship but a statement that we are moving in that direction. There’s way too much money being spent to give him a pass.
