Ozempic facing $2 billion worth of lawsuits

The new year coming up, so its back to the 'new year's resolution' game.
At the top of the list is to lose weight and get back into shape.
The gyms will be filled with folks, but they will soon be back to normal within a couple of months.
Many are now looking into GLP-1, particularly Ozempic. But hold on there.
There is now lots of lawsuits and even 'settlements' from the maker of Ozempic.

I have a feeling that the whole Ozempic debacle is going to end up horribly bad for many folks.
To folks wanting to lose weight: Go Keto or carnivore.
Get rid of the junk and garbage in your diet.
One doctor said it this way. Quit eating C.R.A.P.
C. Carbs and sugars along with HFC
R. Rancid seed oils.
A. Artificial ingredients
P. Processed proteins and ultra-processed foods
Start with intermittent fasting. Works great. Its not as hard as you think.
Get back into the exercise groove.

Litigation status: Lawsuits involving Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs have been grouped together in two separate multidistrict litigations (MDL), helping to expedite the legal process. One focuses on gastroparesis, with the other focusing on vision loss.
Number of lawsuits: 2,947 as of December 2025
Injuries Claimed: Severe gastroparesis (stomach paralysis), ileus (impaired bowel function), intestinal obstruction and permanent vision loss from non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
Label status: In January 2025, the Ozempic label was updated to state that it is “not recommended in patients with severe gastroparesis,” but does not indicate that the drug itself may cause the condition. In September 2023, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) added ileus warnings to Ozempic.
Settlements: No global settlements have been announced as of December 2025.

This is why healthcare is so expensive
A lawsuit happy population.
A lawsuit happy population.

I'll never understand why people take toxic crap like this instead of just eating less, eating healthier, and going for a walk.
Same goes for people that have invasive surgeries instead of just eating less

The fine and settlements will be less than the profit they make. Cost of doing business.

Old health nut yells at clouds
Let people do what they want

I don't dispute that and there is a lot validity to that claim
However, I am seeing folks go for a quick and easy fix, especially when it comes to weight loss. But they are ruining their long-term health.
Do your own research and come to own decisions/conclusions.

It’s easy to understand. It’s because they can’t.

Again, let people do what they want. It’s their body

I’ve been taking Ozempic and later Mounjaro for 8 years for diabetes and I have not lost a pound. I’m not fat so I don’t need to lose any weight, but I think they should leave these drugs for the people they were meant for.

It’s an addiction driven by the pleasure center of the brain, but instead of society calling it what it is and focusing on root cause solutions, the food and pharmaceutical industries keep driving it for financial gain.

Actually it's because we have a nation of obese people.
Obese people have a never ending plethora of health issues.
Also morons that smoke, drink too much, take drugs etc.
People that eat healthy, maintain a healthy weight, and exercise have very few health problems.
The health conscious people pay a fortune in premiums to pay for the never ending health issues of the obese.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think diverse groups of people--including fitness bros and broettes--aren't taking GLP-1s too.

I don't believe you truly cannot see why losing weight is challenging for many people. And I am not going to criticize people using this measure and others to try and make it easier for them. Since I stopped being an athlete but maintaining the food cravings, I have yo-yo'd body weight as well. Every person is different and has different gene combos and metabolisms.

I think it’s ok to use short term for 6 months or less to help lose weight and manage a diet as you try to get used to eating less food. It’s bad to take the shots in perpetuity

If someone lost a ton of weight it was probably better for their health outcomes.

You dont have to do either.
Just less calories than you need to maintain your weight. The math is simple. I just dropped 20 lbs on a cut recently and ate whatever I wanted, just portion control.
