Ever notice how great a coach is coming to LSU and how lousy they are leaving?

Just an observation.

I think it’s just fine for a coach to come and go but the players make the coach. Not saying they’re aren’t bad coaches but can they be great when they come and bad when they leave?

I think Brian Kelly is the only one that was lousy when he came and lousy when he left.

The back up QB and the others teams position coach are the Rant’s favorite at all times. ??

Happens everywhere when a new coach is hired. Fans rationalizing we got the right guy. Look at Ole Myth and Golding.

Yea this. It’s all psychological. Optimistic about Lane but time will tell as always.

The last 3 head coaches that got fired were all total garbage at the time they were fired. Miles about 4 years too late. Orgeron as soon as the pictures leaked of him in bed with his new tramp. He checked out.

That’s not the premise of OP & you’re wrong about Miles.

He wasn’t ever gonna win a championship at LSU, but “total garbage”?

He was 7-5 at OK State the year before he came to LSU. 9-3 at LSU in 2015 & 2-2 when he got fired in 2016 (team finished 8-4)

It’s expectation on the way in and evidence based reasoning on the way out. Not that crazy.

Orgeron.

I don't understand the hate for O. He put together a very solid staff, excellent talent and fielded the greatest tfootball eam in NCAA history. I would trade the way his career at LSU ended any day over Brian Kelly.

I've wanted Kiffin at LSU since he was the OC at Alabama. I've never felt so confident in a hire, and if he fails, I'll own up to being wrong. I won't be though.

Look at the post I was responding to, big dawg.

He was an underwhelming hire when he came in and was terrible on the way out.

Easy for a coach (like BK) to come in and think it’s just going to be ‘going through the motions’. O caught ‘lightning in a bottle’, while BK nearly did with JDaniels but didn’t do anything else.

On the other hand, CLK seems to have learned (the hard way) what it truly takes.

I disagree regarding football. The only two I remember people being excited about were Bo Rein and Bill Arnsparger.

We hired Lou Saban? Oh, "Nick" Saban. From Michigan State? How is he going to recruit the South?

We hired the Oklahoma head coach! Oh, the Oklahoma State head coach. The goofy guy who yelled "Let 'er rip!" and then got beat 52 - 9?

Orgeron? They promoted Orgeron? Fire the AD!

Neother Saban, Miles, or even Orgeron were "great" prior to coming to LSU. Saban and Miles were still on the upswing of their careers and established themselves here, cementing their greatness. Orgeron, was someone else's trash that found lightening in a bottle via several great hires and stumbling upon Joe Burrow. I wouldn't call him "great" but he's certainly a legend.

Brian Kelly essentially left LSU with a similar status he came here with: A very good coach that couldn't get to the mountain top. If you can't do it at LSU, you probably won't do it anywhere else.

This isn’t specific to LSU.

I mean, there’s usually a reason a coach is getting fired.

LSU is a coaching graveyard.

Posters will get triggered, but it’s a fact.

This is so obvious -

If a coach WEREN’T lousy, he wouldn’t be leaving.

So br definition, a coach leaving LSU will necessarily be lousy.

All things end badly, or they wouldn’t end.

If a coach is doing good at LSU, why would he leave? LSU isn’t like Tulane where coaches prove themselves and move up to a bigger program.
