Both Fears and Queen look so promising. In your opinion, which one is better today, and which one has the best upside?

Queen is better.

Fears is probably a fringe all star guy unless he starts knocking down 3s at a good clip, then he’s fringe all pro potential.

Queen. He’s more of a unicorn. Lots of fast athletic guards. Not many big men with Queen’s passing and iq

I agree at this point….are we coming around to the fact now that Dumars felt so strongly about Queen that he view the trade as if we were getting one year ahead on our first?

Fears still has a higher ceiling. Fears was always going to have the lower floor as a rookie.

Derik Queen in a draft re-do goes top 5 right now (I think it would go Flagg, Knueppel, Edgecombe, Queen, and Harper). Jeremiah Fears in a draft re-do, I think he goes 6.

Its purely because Queen is doing something that is hard to comprehend how. While at Maryland he had 1.9 APG (2.4 TOV) and highest assist game was 5. I get it was a guard-centric league and team, but still...its crazy to think his December has been: 16.6/8.3/5.6 (2.4 TOV).

Fears is still putting up a solid numbers all while being 19. He is doing what we hoped Kira Lewis was doing this young. 43.7/35.1/78.8; 14.8/3.5/3.2

Queen. A center that can run the floor, distribute for other and (eventually) shoot a corner three is still very rare. A 6-4 guard that gets the rim and shoots ok from 3 is great to have but more widely available.

Queen is the centerpiece going forward at the moment.

It really shows how different the college game is from the NBA, take Kon for example he was good at Duke but I had no idea how well his game works in the NBA

People making a lot of definitive statements about 19 year old kid who should still be in college. Fears could develop into a player like a Spida or a Westbrook in 3 years for all we know. Fears is definitely not a common rookie and his game is nowhere near complete. He will probably look a lot different in year 3. What he is doing at his age and as a rookie guard compares very well with a lot of star players at this stage.

Great question. And what a fun question to debate for Pels fans. Usually our debates are over negatives like who was worse Griff or Dumars; or trade Zion for nothing or cut him or keep him and overpay.

That said, what a Christmas Miracle that we have a positive subject to debate.

To answer the question, I think Fears has the higher floor on his career with great handles and athleticism; and Queen has the higher ceiling being a highly skilled big that sees the floor well.

Which is better now? I would say Queen but it’s close.

if fears could/can learn to shoot there is potential Murray/Jokic vibes with queen. If he can’t then there will have to be a shooter next to him that probably can’t defend either. If you could only have one you take queen

which is why they should have taken queen at 7 if they felt so strongly about him (and rightly so it appears) and taken the best shooting PG in the draft next year. Que sera. I like fears but if he does wind up being tony Parker 2.0 they need shooters and they need a rim protector.

I still think herb can be a better shooter. Without a draft pick next season they are going to have to find shooters and defenders o. The current roster. Which means better coaching than we have had in the past. At least the plan should be clear with the options available and not available

Queen, and he better be considering what we gave up for him. I am very optimistic about both going forward.

That would be awesome. But both of those guys are freak athletes. I just dont see that level of power and explosiveness from Fears. But it would be epic if it happened..

Fears is probably more comparable to someone like Maxey. I’m glad we don’t have to choose between either because they complement each other perfectly as long as they keep developing. Both need to add more muscle this offseason and improve their 3 point shot. We know the Nuggets’ team composition works so we have an example to model our team after. TM3 is better than Michael Porter Jr and Zion is better than Aaron Gordon. If this team actually managed to stay healthy and develop together, they could be special in a couple of seasons.

EDIT: I should say that Fears could have a higher upside if he grows an inch or two. That would really help him as a defender.

You apparently have forgotten that basketball involves defense and rebounding as well.

You can say due to injury concerns and whatnot that AG is better to have than Zion. But as far as on the court, playing basketball, Zion is better than AG and it’s not close.
