Staying at campus hotel next week and driving into New Orleans for Sugsr Bowl. I'm a Dawg, but have always been fascinated by LSU,
Tiger Stadium, and culture, food, etc. Not looking to party. Will have my 15 and 11 year old. Give me some old school classic restaurants, things to eat, things to see. We have all day Wednesday to see the place as I'm driving Tuesday. Any Sugar Bolw tickets for 3 would be a bonus!

Man I’d love to give you pointers but it’s been a long time since I’ve been back. If the are still around, Pastime for food, Digillio bros is good Italian, Poor Boy Lloyds (but your going to NOLA so get poboys there), Parains, Sammy’s…student staple back in my day was AM Mart for a spicy turkey sandwich. Tsunamis sushi was fun, no clue now.

You gotta go see Mike the Tiger

If weather is good, you should take a walking tour of the Quadrangle & Parade Grounds. One of the most beautiful campuses anywhere.

If staying on campus then Chimes just north of campus is good. Walk around campus and walk to the chimes. See the tiger for sure other than that depends on food tastes on where to eat

See the
Indian mounds
State capitol building
Food:
Jays bar b que
Gino’s Italian
pinettas
Mike Anderson’s is a great intro to LA dishes
BR has some of the best Greek-Mediterranean places , there are numerous excellent places. I like Roman’s on Govt. St.
I grew up in BR and went to school there, but haven’t lived there for 35 years. I like to hit some of those places when I get to town.

See mike on campus which is next to the stadium. Chimes on north campus. Bookstore. Digulios Italian. Building 5 for lunch. Zeelend street breakfast. The lakes look like shite right now bc of never ending dredging / contractor saga. Could go to dairy store of campus for fresh ice cream. Maybe baseball team is practicing at the box. Walk through the quad / parade grounds.

Have breakfast at Louie's just off campus and lunch at Chimes Restaurant on Highland just off campus is my fave. Dinner at Mike Anderson's can't be beat.
For eating in New Orleans, the po-boys at Parkway Bakery are rated the best in town every year and I agree with this. The gumbo, jambalaya and fried chicken at Coop's Place in the French Quarter are outstanding. If you have time, go Saturday or Sunday for the brunch buffet at either Brennan's or Court of Two Sisters.

Check out the USS Kidd or the Old and New State Capitols, downtown not far from campus. Coffee Call is a good place to get some beignets if Cafe du Monde is crazy in New Orleans. Other restaurants, Superior is the Baton Rouge hangout, Elsie’s Plate and Pie is highly regarded, and, I’m not joking here, Poboy Express and Off The Hook are damn good fast food options if you are looking for Louisiana-centric foods.
Also, go to a zydeco hockey game

Hard to beat the sausage. Grab a cigar while there, too.

Old state capitol is such an easy tour. Excellent old southern building.
Complicated to do: but there is a river museum then you can walk across river road and this building has a plank that goes out to the riverbed 30 ft up. MS river is very wide by the time it gets down to BR.
Be sure to check out Alex Box stadium, the original WalkOns restaurant is across the street. Just order some gator bites if not fully hungry.
Parrans and Acme oyster for Cajun food.
Louie’s and Chimes are the must-try in the campus area.
If you’re staying at Cook Hotel, UHigh is directly behind it. Sorry about LSU Lakes being under renovation it’s a mess as they have to finish project in June.

You can wander the campus for the day looking at interesting things and stopping for snacks and food
You will see the Indian mounds older than the pyramids….

You must NOT go to North Baron Rouge

Red Sox Fan already recommended--- Elsie’s Plate and Pie is a must.
Roberto's on River Road South of BR around 10 miles is excellent for seafood.
