Out of the many issues with modern gaming, the music in games sucks today

Goldeneye
OG CoD
Halo
God of War
SNES Jurassic Park

All these games have great soundtracks and helped bring you into their respective environments and worlds. And dont give me expedition 33 soundtrack as a response, it's not that good

Example of a goated soundtrack:

If you haven't already, you should get into Dragon Quest.

Dragon Quest 1, 2 and 3 just got hd remakes and the music is awesome. Dragon Quest 11 is peak gaming and awesome music.
Dragon Quest 7 is coming soon.

Yes you are completely right, something I've noticed over the years as well.

The issue is the music is not melodic enough in many games. They don't try to make the music as catchy as it used to be. Same story with sound effects really.

Music too often is far more background ambience noise.

The visuals and the characters and story are the main focus and the music is just sorta there to score it.

If you'll notice games that put gameplay more front and center still have better music. Catchy music goes better with gameplay than with NPC's standing around telling you about how important their bisexual grandmother was to them growing up.

While you may have a point about modern video game music, this is a bad take. It's one of the best OST's in all of gaming, holding up to anything else (Final Fantasy, Zelda, Doom). While many game's music dont live up to the classic standard, Expedition 33 certainly does.

It is. It's incredible and "Une vie a t'aimer" may be the best boss bottle song of all-time.

E33 music is 10/10.

To say it's not good negates any complaint you have about music in gaming.

Yeah weird take from OP. Elden Ring and Death Stranding come to mind as having great soundtracks.

God of War as well
