Easiest solution for the G5 problem

Top 10 teams auto-qualify. Highest 2 G5 conference champions and then 2 at-large (most likely teams 11 & 12).

First round is a play-in style on the campus of the two highest G5 champions against the 2 at-large.

Second round is just like the first round now.

You will not get the NCAA or the schools to contract the number of teams. It is too much money, especially going into the realm of revenue sharing. Expand it by a round and give the G5 teams a home game.

I think this, the 4 millionth thread on the topic, is the one to actually get this done. Thanks for doing this

And why yall get so damn worked up about the last team in who has no chance of winning either way is beyond me. JMU shouldn’t have been in, but it’s not like some juggernaut was left sitting on the sideline. There’s 4 teams that can actually win this year and yall are bitching an moaning about Tulane and JMU like teams like Tennessee and Michigan State haven’t gotten their arse clapped in the playoff

You’re very naïve if you think this is a possibility. Lsu and Alabama are never going to agree to the possibility of being relegated after two bad seasons.

If anyone is following the FBC playoffs, it has been fun and entertaining. The level of football is actually quite good. It has been good for these universities because it puts like teams against each other.

Sad but true, we have to admit that putting in Tulane and JMU in the playoffs seemed logical, however, it didn't seem reasonable. I would like to see someone, if it is the NCAA, to create another division that would allow conferences like AAC, CUSA, MAC, MW, PAC10, and the Sun Belt to have their own College Playoffs in Football. Just in Football, if they want to have it for Baseball, or Women's Sports, they can work that out.

But I think it would be better overall, generate greater interest for more colleges and their followers, make it where the top programs get a better chance of getting into the FBS playoffs (would Vanderbilt and Notre Dame been better games than throwing Tulane and JMU to the lions?). I think it would also help promote local High School football knowing even if a player didn't attend a SEC or Big 10 team, they could still play in a playoff game and get a good education.

The year a G5 school is actually good and can’t get in the “big” playoff yall would lose your fricking minds

As a graduate and fan of a G6 program, I honestly really don't give a shite anymore when it comes to football. Lawyers, both the ones suing the NCAA and the Get Gordon types buying players away from G6s to their favorite teams have fricked it all up.

At this point, Cajuns should go back to playing 2 money games a season, 3 if possible, do the bare minimum in football and divert the extra money game revenues to baseball. I know baseball still has the NIL and no-sit portal transfer thing, but at least then we can hope to retain some of our core best players from season to season.

Making these "student" athletes have to at least go back to sitting a season to transfer would help, and if they don't like it, then they should be told to go form their own little minor league or sit out and train until they're draft eligible or can tryout for an NFL team. But that won't happen, because again, lawyers. They'll sue and win.

Let the SEC/B1G separate completely into their own thing.

Treat the remnants like actual collegiate sports. NCAA has a championship for D1 that does not break away. Implement relegation/promotion between FBS and FCS. Reinstitute and audit for academic requirements. Lean into the brand of "college" football.

Basically, implement all the stuff that would make college sports better, that we couldn't do because the SEC wouldn't allow it.
