I am a GS-14, Step 6. Because I'm currently stationed in the DC area, my salary is $166,236, plus an additional 25% for LEAP (Law Enforcement Availability Pay), which is built in overtime for callouts, unforeseen continuation of the duty day, etc.

OPM

This brings my annual salary to $207,795 before holidays or night pay. Fairly decent. However, due to some archaic rule within the government, we are capped at $195,200. Regardless of any circumstances, including the actual salary to my listed paygrade, I cannot earn my true income.

On each of my Earning and Leave statements, I am pleasantly greeted with a disclaimer: "Because you have earned more than the annual salary cap, you were not paid $484.42 for this two week pay period."

Fix this shite. It should be illegal to work for free.

I mean, it sounds like you agreed to it. You knew what the rules were and you haven’t quit.

Doesn’t mean it’s not bullshite, but it’s not like they hid anything from you or missed payroll or something like that either

Nearly everyone paid salary puts in more hours and work than for which he or she's paid.

Only on the OT do people come to brag about how much they make, then complain about not making another .00001% of their salary.

Did you not know about the rule when you agreed to work there. Shut the frick up and go to work, you make too much base salary as it is. This is coming from someone whose family is law enforcement.

Furthermore, you probably don't do shite.

They are. Your combination for various pay structures, bonuses, overtime, etc., exceeds the maximum allowed, so you are paid the maximum.

This seems very simple to understand. Your recourse is to quit.

Or do like most government employees, and just don't do shite and then you will be getting way MORE than than you should be.

Did you not agree to uphold the laws and constitution of the US when you took the job?

(Hint: if your job is federal, you absolutely did).

Your salary is capped by US code, not government rules.

You agreed to it when you took the oath.

Bitch request denied.
