What teams do you have a fondness/affinity towards?

Leeds United
Wolves
Wrexham

I cannot really say I am a fan of any one team, however. Have tried over the years to make a club 'my' club, but it's just not possible to me. It could never feel like how it does with my fandom of South Carolina.

How can you all feel the pull of a club so far away? What's your story/connection of how you came to be a fan of your club? Anyone traveled to see their team play in England or abroad in any foreign league?

I had covid about 5 years ago, binge watched the Leeds documentary, and have been hooked ever since. After that I found the thread on this board and several podcasts that I now never miss.

I think the club history, its story, and the fan base have similarities to LSU and I guess that’s what drew me in. I consume way more news and content on Leeds than I do anything else, and some of that has probably been accelerated by the degradation of college sports during the same time frame. I never would have imagined watching a full day of soccer and not a single snap of college football, but I did that Saturday.

I haven’t made it over for a game yet but will sometime in the next couple years. I fully realize that after not growing up with it I won’t feel the success or failure as much as the lifers do, but it is a hell of a fun ride.

ETA: It has probably helped that the club has had something on the line basically since I first started following. The first two full seasons I followed were relegation scraps, followed by two GOATship seasons, and now a push for survival. Maybe it will get boring if they get established and you’re just looking at finishing 12th-14th every year or something.

I became a toffee with a fondness for Everton bc of Joe Max Moore/Tim Howard

I think the EPL is better with Leeds (bc of doc/this board) and West Ham (owners kid is 32, and he loves New Orleans/Tiger Stadium and our restaurant in Liverpool).

No Brian McBride scoring on that breakaway with his first match with the club under Moyes?!?

Been a fan of Manchester United since I attended my first game in April 2003. My older sister was working in Manchester at the time and scored two tickets for United vs Liverpool saw United drum them 4-0 and have been hooked since.

I also have always rooted for Fulham, I attended a match at Craven Cottage couple of years ago and its a proper old school ground. Fans are great, area is great.

Have an affinity towards Everton strictly due to my disdain for all things Liverpool.

I've always been a Liverpool fan since the early 2000's, but I don't have the hatred of Everton like the average Liverpool fan does. I've always had a fondness for them b/c of Tim Howard and LD's short loan stints, and i thought it was awesome 2 years ago when the fans basically willed the team out of relegation. Those atmosphere's at Goodison late in the season were amazing, as well as the games they played away from home.

I've always liked Fulham as well b/c they always seem to have US players, but that started with McBride for me.

The other team i want to see get back to the EPL is Portsmouth. Don't know why I liked them in the 2000's but i did.

There’s two types of people in this world, those who have a fondness for Swansea City Football Club and those who suck dick for money.

Liverpool
Wrexham
Leeds
Barca a little.

When I was working in Leeds, they were either about to be relegated or just had been. Fans gave no F's.

Liverpool: I walked into a pub near Athlone (Roscommon?) in 06 wearing a red polo shirt, not realizing I was walking into a Liverpool bar after winning the FA cup. Someone handed me their baby before the door shut behind me. I love those kind of people.

All Leeds aren’t we!?

Had never played, nor watched, soccer but happened to be in Nashville one weekend when the USMNT was playing, got tickets and had an awesome time.

Came home, watched a few soccer documentaries on Amazon (Tottenham, Leeds, Man City and Sunderland (I think) and just started watching random premier league games.

Initially watched Liverpool and Tottenham the most, but then Leeds played Tottenham in a game and I caught myself pulling for Leeds and the rest is history.

Have only missed a handful of games in the past 3-4 years. MOT!
