Just expand the P4 to have 16 teams each and get your playoff teams from there.

If your school doesn’t make that 64 team group, tough shite.

Every now and then an occasional G6 squad could put together a good resume (like those old Utah, Boise, and UCF teams), but it should be reserved for special teams like those. Not schmucks like this JMU team.

Just get rid of the autobids. Any conference champ who deserves one would get in anyway with 12 teams. If a G5 wants in they need to be undefeated with a P4 win

What it proves is the super conference is fricking stupid, if you left the conferences alone the top 5 conference winners would be Indiana UGA Oregon 1 of TTU/A&M/OU and probably Tulane since thenACC is a shite show

It proves that the conference champions' automatic bid format is not a good thing. Some years, a G5 team may be good enough to play a competitive game in the CFP.

But it may make sense to create a G5 playoff and a separate P$ playoff.

Its not fair to G5 teams to compete against playoff teams...they are overmatched and dont recruit the same level of talent.

This is stupid and needs to be the last year

JMU and Tulane are better teams than we are seeing today. They are both playing top 10 teams on the road in late December after playing 13 games. It's an impossible situation.

I think we do need a separate playoff, but a G5 school can still qualify for the big CFP if ranked in the top 12.

If you put them in, they need to be a conference champion and a legit top 12 team.

No more DEI playoff spots. We shouldn’t be having post season games that look like rent-a-wins.

Miami and Bama did the exact same thing and pulled off “the impossible”.

JMU and Tulane simply aren’t playoff teams.

There have been deserving G5 teams before. Boise just last year deserved to be in. It’s the automatic bid that’s the problem. Just go to straight top 12 or 16 if they expand.

Boise and TCU (pre-Big 12) would have been worthy. UCF has had a couple of worthy teams. If you are G5, you need to have gone undefeated or 1-loss to a damn good P4 team. If you don’t have that resume, you probably won’t hang.

Which allowed them to build better teams. Playoff teams.

Look I’m not crazy about the money aspect of college football myself, but it is what it is. I’m not sure what the argument here is…give playoff spots away for charity to lesser teams so they can get their faces beat in?

I know exactly what it means. The “I” stands for “inclusion”.

That’s why they’re doing this. We have to be inclusive to the G5, so barely ranked teams full of two stars have to be put in the playoffs because it’s the equitable thing to do.
