What a horrible year for movies 2025 turned out to be.
F1 might be my favorite of the bunch.
The series and home streaming shows easy much better.

Every year it’s “what a horrible year for movies”

They actually had some bangers this year if you’re a film fan and know what to look for

Warfare
Bugonia
Train Dreams
One Battle After Another (ducks)
Nuremberg
Friendship
Weapons
Black Bag
28 Years Later

Those just off the top of my head. Marty Supreme drops next week I expect it to be in there as well.

I’m between Train Dreams and Bugonia for best movie of the year, personally. Waiting to see Marty Supreme and Is This Thing On? Before I drop my top 10

I know it's divisive on here but I really liked Sinners

Enjoyed sinners as well. Don’t think it would make my top 10 but it was good

Sounds like you need to get right with the Lord.

Yep, it's Warfare. Something about a stripped down, balls to the wall, action movie about a real life combat zone situation...speaks to me.

don't get the love here. Poorly written script with enough holes in the plot to drive a train through.

Haven’t thought hard about this (and there’s still a few that I want to catch) but the most enjoyment I got from a movie this year was Eddington.

Eddington was great. Wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. Some strong No Country vibes towards the end. And some really fricking funny social commentary making fun of both sides.

This the only one on your list that I've seen.

It was okay, but it wasn't anything earth-shattering. Points for originality, I guess?

Not my favorite movie of the year but Joaquin Phoenix's performance in that film was probably my favorite of the year.

Didn't expect much from this one going in, but it was surprisingly structurally complex and had that visual "creepiness" that kept it intriguing throughout.

Maybe left a little bit on the table in the final act, but definitely an enjoyable watch in my opinion.

I forgot about Caught Stealing. It would make my list as well. Ballad of Wallis Island would be on there as well.

Hated:

Phoenician scheme

Didn’t like:

The monkey
Eddington
Hamnet

Frankenstein was ok. Still need to see Smashing Machine and Black Phone 2

Disliked it while watching and it's developed into a hatred now after marinating. Abomination to the source.
