I don’t think they could have done anything to help.

He looks like Rachel Maddow.

His trial will be really interesting. I’ve not heard anything really about motive , has there been any credible info on that? Impulse killing with a gun is one thing, but to kill someone with a knife is on another level, you have to really want to kill them. And to kill two people, your parents no less in their home, well there’s some serious rage motivating that.

Unfortunately once a kid hits 18 the options are limited.

Nah, he's the creepy gay son in Wedding Crashers.

Actually, it was Rachel Maddow.

Actually, not engaging in promoting and supporting his mental illness via becoming a trannie would have been a better direction.
Mentally Ill folks will kill anyone, including family.

Absolutely... fun fact if someone here hasn't noticed. The young actress, Patty McCormack, was so disturbing, they had to add a 'curtain-call', where the characters come out, including a spanking of McCormack to break the uncanny valley.
PS - Nick always exhibits that 'deer in the headlights' look, with the exception of one shot I've seen when he was 18. This means something to me.

Where y'all getting this from? I've seen nothing in my googling that says that. And no pictures even suggesting it.

People who do NOT have Jesus in their life are constantly tossed about by their demons. For Nick Reiner his demon was his hatred for his parents (his father in particular). And Rob Reiner's demon was his hatred for everything Donald Trump. So given that we reap what we sow.......we can deduce that if we do NOT defeat those demons in us......we will eventually be overcome by them.
I recall a wise Ole Spiritual Director explained it to us this way. The leader of demons (satan) constantly exploits our weaknesses, dangles our inordinate attachments (temptations) in front of us. He probes, taunts, fuels our hatred, and dangles our enemies before us. Always with the aim of superimposing hatred over our tendency to love, as he steers us away from the path that leads to God. God loves and affirms - satan hates and accuses.
Due to the influence of natural law (i.e we don't kill people) we all fight those destructive inclinations - constantly. But if we DO NOT overcome them then eventually in ONE massive assault satan "breaches the wall of our sensible behavior" and we do something terrible. For Rick Reiner that "breach" was an impulsive moment which caused him to murder his parents.
I argue that all mental illness is rooted in the demonic. But that's just my observation based on Biblical revelation (hint: I am not a follower of Freudian lunacy).
I am as much appalled at this murder of Rob and Michelle Reiner as anyone, but I'm not surprised by it. Evidence of the diabolical is manifested in death. God is life - satan is death.
But I must pray for Rick Reiner and those children Rob and Michelle Reiner left behind. They need our prayers. As for Rob and Michelle Reiner, I'm sure they wish they could come back - but they can't. Which reminds me, as I reflect on this terrible act of violence - there but for the Grace of God go I.
Jesus, I Trust in You.
Domine Iesu Christe, munda me a propensione mea ad odium, et adiuva me ut inimicos meos diligam. Amen

Yup, The movie channel shows the curtain call at the end of the movie. I've seen Patty McCormacck as an older adult on some 70s or 80s detective show (Rockford?) or something. She aged well and became very beautiful.
Bad Seed is a good movie to hate on that little beyootch. She worse than Nellie Oleson !

Know whats weird?
If what Reiner said is actually true - that Trump is a conman, grifter, yada yada - his own kids never tried to kill him.

Just goes to show there’s more going on in people’s lives than most know, even if they are celebrities.

I do not think they have released anything in the way of motive but it's being reported in a lot of places that he was battling addiction and homelessness as well as mental issues (obviously)
They are charging him with 1st degree x2 with aggravating circumstances so theirs evidence in their finding that he planned this and it wasn't some drug induced rage or mental break. At least that's what they seem to be angling towards.
