Mahomes may be one of the toughest SOBs to ever play the QB position.

Mahomes gets a lot of grief on this forum but the facts are he's a tough SOB.
Dude twisted his kneecap around in 2019 and after the medical team on the sidelines twisted it back around it was reported he wanted to go back in, said he felt good enough to play. Dude played on a severely sprained ankle in 2022 playoffs leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl.
Here's the real indication of how bad Mahomes wants to play football and how tough he truly is. Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL this past Sunday and within 36 hours had surgery to repair the damage.
The reason I mention this immediate surgery to repair his ACL and LCL, doctors generally won't repair an injured knee until 2-3 weeks after injury and sometimes up to 6 weeks. There are risks performing knee reconstruction surgery too quickly, among the risks are athrofibrosis which leads to permanent knee stiffness and arthritis. I guess Mahomes orthopedic surgeon made the determination that the surgery was worth the risk.
Mahomes has his mind set on taking the snap opening day in 2026.
Good luck MahomeBaw.

No QB who played his career this century is anywhere near the discussion of toughest QB to play.

Don’t know if waiting means he is tough. He should have waited if that is true. His career can be over

you mean the QB that is not to be touched
he and Kelce are both soft compared to players in other years

Also pretty tough when he'd purposely slow up and stay in bounds hunting for personal foul penalties

quote:I think Brady is unfairly maligned in this regard. For at least the first 10 years of his career he would take crippling blows and pop up out of pride, regardless of how hurt he was.

Amen to that. Nothing like getting drilled to the turf by Chicago's Monsters of the Midway, Pittsburgh's Steel Curtain, Minnesota's Purple People Eaters or the Ram's Fearsome Foursome.
Those guys hit hard and often, not like today's game where you can barely touch a QB without drawing a flag.

Just the fact Intentional Grounding has been legalized means these QBs take dozens, if not hundreds, of fewer shots over the course of a year.

Favre played this century.

Watched the documentary about Terry Bradshaw and that dude took some legendary abuse. Defenders were clearly trying to hurt and/or kill QBs back in the 70s.

You do realize that a major reason for the wait has more to do with other injuries located within the knee. The most common reason professional athletes wait has more to do with the swelling in the knee. They absolutely must wait for the swelling to subside before operating; regardless of the patient's toughness.
For us non-professional athletes, the wait time can be longer (insurance delays aside) because we need pre-surgery rehab

Toughest QB of this generation is Josh Allen IMO.

Mahomes is the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the NFL

He's the luckiest QB of all time. Burrow is much tougher. Actually suffers real injuries, rehabs them, and then plays injured and/or ahead of schedule. We shall see what Mahomes does with his first real injury test.

Terry Bradshaw
Joe Thiesman
Roger staubach
Are all seriously tougher than Mahomes. And they may not even be top ten.
Ken Stabler, probably the toughest. Dude absolutely got destroyed every game but would stay in the game.

Not hyperbole at all.
Joe Namath comes to mind.
Here's Raiders DE Ben Davidson breaking his jaw with his forerarm cast in broad daylight.
And again, Joe Namath, 1968 AFL Championship getting mugged top of the rope WWE style again by the villainous Ben Davidson. How far has "roughing the QB" come since then?

He is tough because he wanted to have the surgery immediately, regardless of the risks?
Try harder
