Seems to have a good record and has been with Elko for a good while, but I don't know much about his offensive mindset. Any bama fans know much about him?

He will retain playcalling duties (for better or worse) through the playoffs.

I don’t know much about him other than Saban hired him as WR coach in 2019, he moved to A&M after 2023 around the time Saban retired.
Devonta Smith, Jeudy, and Waddle were already on campus when he got there, but obviously Smith winning the heisman is a big feather in his cap.
A&M’s WR room sucked in 2024. They added Concepcion and Craver with big play speed which was a big difference maker in their offense. I don’t know how they ranked their portal targets last offseason but they were recruiting Barion Brown and Nic Anderson just like LSU and probably got outbid. I’m not saying they were lucky to land KC and Craver, but if they had landed Brown and Anderson instead, that offense might not have been as explosive (obvious statement is obvious)

Seems odd that a defensive minded head coach would promote a first time playcaller/OC at a major program.

Maybe he's a genius though.

Both coordinators hires were in-house typically not a great sign

Chicken & Rib BBQ buddy.

Never called plays before. (You can't do that in the SEC)

This will be a disaster.

Who knows how he will turn out, but him leaving VT for Bama started the decline for Fuente.

One thing interesting is that it seems he is bringing in VT's old OC under Fuente as an analyst and whom Wiggins worked under.

So if that is the case, you are looking at the old TCU offense as a base.

I was never that impressed with him as wide receivers coach when he was at Bama.

As long as Reed is the QB, this team will be able to compete with anyone. He’s good enough to make plays out of nothing and cover up for deficiencies. When he bolts for the NFL, this team will take two steps back and Elko probably won’t be able to recover no matter how many OCs he cycles through. Reed isn’t on the level of Jayden Daniels, but he definitely shows shades of him in play.
