I too would be fine to not go after him in the portal given how his decommitment went, but I don't think his sample size at Michigan should make anyone think he doesn't have a high ceiling.

What we thought would happen to him at Michigan, did happen.

He was surrounded by subpar talent at the skill positions, with a coaching staff that doesn't know how to develop a QB to save their life.

Bryce played in the big 10 as a true freshman and ran the horrible plays that were called for him. And given the circumstances, he wasn't bad.

If you actually gave this kid time to grow, elite players around him, and a coach that knows how to develop QBs, I still think this kid could be great.

Not politicking to get him, just saying that if we did, I think his play would be drastically improved from what we saw at Michigan this year.

In the age of NIL, all of the players are mercenaries. It won’t benefit LSU to hold grudges against players who were lured away by money. They’re all lured somewhere by money, whether it’s LSU or elsewhere.

sure. that also.

we are not blowing half our NIL budget on one guy. especially after the shite he pulled last time. plenty other Qbs out there we can snag.

I don't think we are shelling at $12 mil for anyone. We don't have a L Ellison.

The question is he worth spending premium money on him after he has shown to be not a dominant QB. He would have to walk away from a lot of money that I would not pay to get him to come here.

I don’t think Underwood can demand that money.

Every team in the nation could easily tell him he doesn’t have the film to ask for that type of money.

But…. Let’s say he comes to LSU and throws go 3000 yards and 25 TDs. He’d get a junior year where he could demand a little more and would have the opportunity to go out and put on a show for what would likely be his final college season.

The money given by Michigan is a lot of money…. But if he doesn’t develop as a QB then the gravy train is over after college. Then he has to get a real job…. Or he can take less, develop and set himself up for an NFL gig and more long term money. The question is can he look to the future rather than the now.

This^^^^

CLK said he's going to expose the flaws of this system, in the hopes of reformation. I, for one, hope he's successful because it's killing the sport I grew up with.

The funny thing is he would have done just as bad in this shite offense we had this year. At least his OLine wasn't dogwater at Michigan.

It would not be half our budget.
We have 25 million he got 12 for 3 or four years
It would be 4 million a year so16 % a year

Given this scenario, I am sure there are at least 50 other QB's who could be great also. These days, you would be lucky to get even two of those. Especially the part about time to grow. If you try to salt away a good QB by redshirting or whatever, his agent will have him in the portal before you can blink.

The only way Underwood comes to LSU is if he takes a major pay cut. I don’t think that’ll happen, but I think that would be the biggest hurdle given LSU will probably need 2 QB’s from the portal

Didn’t Nuss get something like 3.6 million for this past year alone? If Kiffin thinks he’s worth the investment, then I don’t see the problem with affording him.

This. He may turn out to be ok but 10 mil to some kid who only showed flashes. This is a pro sport now, if you want us to take on that big of a contract he needs to have shown something to warrant it.

The biggest problem with Underwood, is the Michigan billionaire. If Underwood had a big year at LSU, he just get bought out to return to UM.

He cashed in his freshman year at Michigan. Fair enough.

Now he needs to develop into a number one NFL QB in the next two years. He needs coaching, protection, and targets more than beau-coup bucks. LSU can offer this plus bucks.

Did you see the interview with the parents, in particular the Dad. I don’t have the link because it was a while back and I don’t remember exactly where I saw it. But it’s fair to say they are not long term or critical thinkers by any means. Just being honest.
