25% on all chips from American companies is huge revenue in the era of AI demand

This seems like a good deal, 25% plus China doesn't get the top end chips (still get powerful chips, just not the most advanced).

I would be willing to bet a few of the “Most advanced” versions “accidentally” slip through so one of their companies can copy it

I don't think that they can, they have fabrication issues even with their own lesser chips. It's not like they can't buy the Blackwell already anyway, so if they could copy it they would have. JMO

Seems like a better deal than exporting to one of our “allies” who turns around and sells a portion of them to China for profit

Fabrication issues and keep China from getting the most advanced tools, especially in lithography.

Probably part of the deal so that they can keep getting the raw materials to make the chips.

So nvidia has to pay 25% to the government in addition to a tax on revenue?

What kind of mafioso shakedown deal is that !?

Since "corporations don't pay tax, consumers do," the tax will be paid by China. We've been told that tariffs are passed onto the consumer, and there is no reason to believe that this one is special.

No conservative should have a problem with our enemy, China, paying extra. China isn't getting these chips elsewhere, so the "tax" isn't hurting Nvidia's sales. Nvidia was actually getting zero of these sales before, so this is a huge win for the American company, too.

There is no downside. Unless you just don't want these chips sold at all, there is no reason to complain about the details of the agreement.

The CCP has already moved to restrict companies from purchasing Nvidia chips a few months ago.

Your ilk sold their soul to China.

This move by Trump seems to make sense on the surface (making bank on a high demand item that the Chinese currently don’t have a means to reliably produce yet).

Why do you hate America?

Yes. The completely unnecessary trade war that we're losing. Again.
