You realize for a match to be good the teams have to be of somewhat similar skill right?

You conveniently left out the trashy opponents for those matches. Who wants to pay $3k watch Portugal blow out Uzbekistan when Uzbekistan probably wont even have 5 shot attempts and under 30% possession?

The best chance houston has for a good game is Netherlands vs winner of sweden playoff or netherlands vs runner up in the Brazil/Morocco/Scotland group in the knockouts.

The best group stage game in texas is netherlands vs japan in dallas

We could get something like Netherlands vs Italy in the round of 16, too

I was hoping to get Ivory Coast vs Ecuador in Houston and a Colombia match.

They are actually all arse; big names but terrible matches. But the expanded world cup has led to a ton of terrible matches.

Germany/Curacao
Portugal/Path 1
Netherlands/Path B
Portugal/Uzbekistan
Cape Verde/Saudi Arabia

The only decent match is Netherlands vs Path 1 which will be Ukraine, Sweden, or Poland. Should make for some affordable tickets at least.

Dallas is the winner of the southern cities for matches
They get England-Croatia, Netherlands-Japan, and Argentina twice
I will probably be trying to do one of those pending dates prices etc

Yep.. The netherlands japan tickets are affordable compared to other games and with Japans fanbase dont have to worry about hooligan shenanigans. Im gonna join the lotto i think but i found 2 lower bowl tickets for 3k and almost pulled the trigger today.

Ive watched a few japan games recently and i dont think i have to worry about them parking the bus and Netherlands is always fun

2 lower bowl for 3k? For group stage? frick that I didn't pay that much for the 2019 CFP championship or the 2022 Stanley Cup Final Game 6

I went to two WC games as a broke student in Brazil 2014 and paid a few hundred combined

If that's really the price I'm likely out

I’m in the same boat. I’m not spending more than $1000 for a group stage game. Maybe a good knockout match

Once per year events vs once in a lifetime. Next time there's a world cup in the US ill be a senior citizen haha.

Still cheaper than a taylor swift concert

I'll plan to go to Cape Verde vs Saudi and just never go into detail about what World Cup game I've been to when asked.

The Atlanta games are awful.

The Spain games are the only ones with going to unless Italy ends up being uefa d team. But probably end up with some low rate euro side v South Africa.

And then there is Morocco v Haiti. Lol

Lot of awful games because of expansion, and then you have all but 4 third place teams advancing anyways... group stage is almost meaningless in this format.

My best bet to not have to miss any work may just be the Spain vs Saudi Arabia match.. ooff..

I wonder if you will be able to find last minute tickets real cheap for some of these games. That would be the only saving grace.

Who is going to spend a few thousand dollars to take their kids to watch Haiti play?

Unfortunately there will probably be a good market for that since Ronaldo could bag multiple goals in that game and people would pay to see that alone.

seriously though.

I guess there are some homer fans (like Yankee fans) that wanna pay $3,000 to watch Argentina hammer Jordan 6-0 but it isn't me.

What is the over/under on shot attempts for Uzbekistan vs Portugal? 3?

This x 100000000

We were excited about Portugal, Scotland, Brazil or Colombia but now it'll be a 6 hour drive to watch Spain kick the shite out of a team that doesn't have any business playing in a WC Final in the first place ?! It's an uptown problem at the end of the day but the odds of us catching a match at Mercedes Benz are zero unless I'm gifted 4 free tickets sitting together.

I'm just hoping Portugal wins their group so I can see them July 3 in Kansas City.
