Just put in an offer on a home.
Under 30. Regular job holder… not a lawyer, Sr, CPA whatever.
Thought this was impossible in this day and age.

Takes good parents and financial literacy to be able to do that really, some other things too, discipline and intelligence, but yeah, its become harder for the younger generations to afford a home nowadays, average age jumped again
happy for yall

Imagine being so miserable that someone else's kid buying a house threatens your worldview.

How much? I saw a lot of starter homes being built in a new subdivision near where I live. But they are about 330K. Not really a starter home. Did she get a 600K shotgun in New Orleans?

Good for her, but what's so impossible about having a job and good credit? Both of my daughters are young homeowners.

But I was told that only Boomers could afford houses and that the oppressed under 30 generation doesn't stand a chance.
I hope she bought a house because she wants a house, and not because she thinks it's a good investment.
Home ownership is an overrated investment.
It's a narrative pushed by banks & industries that benefit from home building and home furnishing.
Property Taxes are basically the rent that you pay to own your own.
People tend to ignore property taxes, interest on the loan, maintenance/repairs.

That's terrific, congratulations to all!
You must have taught her good personal financial skills, including the importance of saving, the difference between 'want' and 'need,' cooking at home vs. buying all kinds of commercial crap, and making her own coffee instead of $10 drinks from the siren company.
Wishing her many wonderful years in her new home!

It truly IS dependent on the area of the country also. The east coast/midAtlantic are notorious for not being affordable.

You're going to get a lot of shite for this, but you aren't wrong.
If you look at it as "I paid X and it's now worth/I sold it for Y," then it seems like a good investment.
If you look at cash outflows for mortgage interest, taxes, insurance, maintenance, remodels, etc...well, it takes a LONG time before you're actually ahead.

But they are about 330K.
In the lord’s year 2025, 330k is a first home price for someone 30 years old.
