Ole Miss players to keep an eye on after the playoffs

Its safe to say that Kiffin has a good idea of who the best players are with eligibility left on the Ole Miss roster, who he wants, and who might flip to LSU after Ole Miss ends its playoff run. I have no idea who that might be, but here are a few of the best players, with eligibility left, on a very talented Ole Miss roster. Kiffin may even have some of these penciled in which may have influenced who LSU offered and who LSU supposedly processed after Kiffin’s arrival:
Kewan Lacy sophomore rb: This three star running back lit it up for Ole Miss this year with 1300 yds rushing at 5 yds a carry and 20 tds. Whoa. I am not sure why he was a three star, he has elite speed. LSU needs another running back or two. Lacy put up the numbers for Ole Miss we expected Durham to do for LSU. You would think Kiffin wants Lacy.
Winston Watkins freshman wr: Watkins was a 4 star out of HS who managed to get 24 receptions when he finally hit the field despite all the Ole Miss wr talent in front of him. He supposedly has big play potential.
Deuce Alexander redshirt sophomore wr: Alexander is said to be the fastest player on the Ole Miss roster averaging 17 yds a reception. He was a 3 star out of high school and a 4 star transfer. Taking any player named “deuce” from Ole Miss would have to sting.
Trinidad Chambliss qb (senior) or Austin Simmons qb (redshirt sophomore): This one is kind of crazy if Chambliss gets another yr of eligibility. Simmons must be good, he beat out Chambliss before Simmons injured his ankle. I dont know if Simmons ever got healthy enough to get his job back or if Chambliss is just better. Then in the portal, you potentially have Lanoris Sellers, Drew Mestemaker, Sam Leavitt and others. Wow. There will be options and with Kiffin as coach and a terrible qb room at LSU. What top qb would not want to step into the starting qb position at LSU with Kiffin? Its almost certain Kiffin gets a top qb, if not his pick of the litter. You would think with the Ole Miss qb coach, Dane Steven’s, coming to LSU, LSU could be a landing place for either of the 2 Ole Miss qbs, but will the guys in the portal be even better? How about Lanoris Sellers with a coach like Kiffin? Yikes. Lots of options here for LSU.
Princewell Umanmielen junior de: This guy is a pass rushing beast and would be a prime target of any college if he doesnt go to the NFL. Lou Spanos, a top defensive analyst who left Ole Miss for LSU, is supposedly tight with him.
Lucas Carniero junior place kicker: Dont underestimate place kickers, many games come down to a field goal. LSU has been spoiled by Ramos. Carniero has made 49 out of 56 field goals (7 of 8 over fifty yards) and 136/136 xtra points in three years at Ole Miss.
I have zero inside info any of these guys and LSU have mutual interest and I would assume Lane and his staff will not do anything perceived as poaching while Ole Miss is in their playoff run. Ole Miss reporters like to say the team all told Kiffin to GTFO. Lol, Ole Miss would be naive to think some of their kids still want to play for Kiffin. I would be worried about any of my good players if I were Ole Miss with Kiffin at LSU, with a big NIL bundle, a bundle probably made even bigger with the money saved on having such a small recruiting class. The coaches who left Ole Miss for LSU also likely have relationships with Ole Miss players that could be a factor.

Even if Ole Miss players merely flirt with LSU but decide to stay it will force OM to spend more NIL money to retain them.

I think our RBs are being counted out, and its not their fault. This line is horrible at blocking, whether its the scheme, lack of knowledge, or lack of skill, but they can't block, so you can't expect RBs to be consistent

Need more posts like this.

He is amazing, but Lane usually has a dual-threat QB to some extent. Haven't seen Drew use his wheels much.

That's definitely part of it. I'm excited about Berry' future I'm a better offense.Durham too, really. Late in the season, he looked more like the runner he was last season, pre toe injury.

This is an underrated response and something I haven't thought about - blowing up other teams' NIL budgets to keep their current players.
The agents need to get into this business.
NIL football is sad

We still need more. We only have three and no HS signees. A RB room should have five.

Do They have a center he can steal? We currently have no centers on the team for next year. Hopefully we can pick up 2 in the portal along with a few guards and tackles.

Good question. Ole Miss actually has at least two offensive lineman that LSU might want:
Brycen Sanders sophomore c: Sanders is huge for a center, 6’6” 310 lbs. He was a four star out if high school. Why he is not a tackle, I dont know, but he probably wouldnt be a center if he didn’t have a high football iq.
Delano Townsend redshirt sophomore guard: Townsend is huge too, 6’5” 330. He was a 3 star out of high school and a 4 star transfer. The Ole Miss offensive line coach stayed at Ole Miss and I dont know how that factors in to the kid’s decisions. I don’t know if relationships like that matter as much if LSU offers more money than Ole Miss can afford. Thats the new world of recruiting.

Chambliss ain’t coming. Simmons is better than any QB on our roster. And he can pitch. Lacy would be a coup.

S. Perkins (probably going pro)
Think we're set at DT but Maddox would be a take.
OL Devin Harper - Top 100 2025 recruit, was an LSU lean before committing to Ole Miss.
