Have to admit LK was impressive in press conference, so what's realistic 1st year goal?

I'm not big fan of LK yet, but given he has a lot of NIL money, knows how to manage the portal and has talent already at LSU, what are realistic expectations?

If CBK was able to win 7 with no running game, poor OL/QB play, horrible OC, I'm thinking 10 wins is very realistic. He does have to find a lot of talent, particularly a QB, but LSU is a hot program with the big hire and a ton of NIL to give out and that's the name of the game.

What do you think is realistic?

Schedules tough but 9 game SEC is just rough.

Most of the top tier SEC games are at home.

9-3 if we have to replace Blake Baker.
10-2 if Blake Baker stays.
I think both would make playoffs in a 9 game sec season with Clemson as well.

Hard to say until the staff and portal transfers are in, but I am fairly confident that year 1 will be better than 7-5

They never looked prepared for the season openers under Kelly and I want to see that difference.

To be fair, they looked pretty prepared on the road at Clemson this year.

Yes both teams sucked, but that was the best game LSU played all year

I think 3 losses will become more normal and that's not a shot at Lane or LSU in any way. Look at how many teams in the league are 2 & 3 loss teams right now and we're adding another league game next season.

I could easily see a world where the playoff expands and you have incredibly dangerous 3 loss teams getting in with regularity.

9-3 is best case scenario. This team needs a major overhaul on offense and it's appearing the defense will get a new staff too so we need to be realistic. I don't see this team playoff ready for at least 2 years.

Yep. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the playoff is going to 16 teams. I think under that format, a two loss SEC team is a lock and a 3 loss SEC team will make it MOST years. I think SEC teams that go 6-3 in the league AND win their P4 OOC game would have more than enough of a resume to be deserving of a spot in a 16 team playoff.

Step 1. Portal QB, with at least 2 years of eligibility.

I'm super intrigued to see when the playoff will expand like we all know it eventually will. Would surprise me if the SEC would've agreed to go to 9 games if the playoff was staying at 12. Why hurt your league and put them at a competitive disadvantage by adding another week of losses to half of your conference if the playoff wasn't expanding?

Retain Blake Baker, find a QB, and we are talking final 4.
