I think most people agree cars have too much stupid tech, especially in the engine, in them that just breaks and costs a fortune to fix these days, but there are some things that I will always want in a vehicle. Mine aren’t new, by any means, though.

- Remote start – I live in a place with true 4 seasons a year. Winter and Summer this is a gamechanger.
- Adaptive cruise control – Long road trips with the family, this is amazing.
- Apple Play – I know this is going away in a lot of vehicles, but it’s a great OS, for lack of a better word.

Give me leather seats, 4WD/AWD capability, these things, and a naturally aspirated internal combustion engine and I’m good.

Yeah I almost said backup camera. I agree here, and I've never had one break on a vehicle.

I called it the wrong thing - my bad, "Apple Carplay".

Back up camera for putting a trailer on the trailer ball is amazing. I learned without it as a kid and it worked fine but it definitely makes it stupidly easy having the camera right there.

Also, Bluetooth/Apple play.

A big touch screen in dash.

That’s really all i care about.

Adaptive cruise control; just let my truck drive itself , love it in stop and go traffic; I can sort of turn my brain off and the truck simply stays in its lane and inches along while I listen to a good podcast

Love:

Adaptive cruise control
Lane keep assist
Ventilated seats
Apple CarPlay

Hate:

Auto stop/start
Any hybrid or battery technology
Turbo's for the sake of fuel economy
Cylinder deactivation (leads to O-rings wearing out prematurely)
Overly complicated touchscreen interfaces (give me buttons and knobs)

Our 4Runner has this… but when I try to hit cruise control on the interstate it doesn’t take. I don’t understand how it works.

I like the orange blinky thingies that show in the side mirrors when it is unsafe to change lanes.

I also like the tilting and telescoping steering wheel.

I do not like the radio… only scans “favorites” from the steering wheel, can’t just scan all FM. I travel a bit from Georgia and all across SC and like terrestrial radio- new tech makes it hard to use while driving.

That's a good one. Gives me a beep if I'm getting over on someone or turn on my blinker and someone is in the blind spot.

The vibrating seat thing is stupid though and just something else to break.

Not sure how many cars have this, but the sensors underneath the back of the car that you can wave your foot under to open the trunk. My mother's SUV has that, and it's nice to have if your hands are full

I hate this so much. I want knobs and buttons for my AC, defrost, etc.

I love Carplay, but I don't need a big screen and use it for Waze and Spotify, exclusively.

I don't even like automatic trunks

I'm good with a latch and to manually open/close it. Something else to break, which has happened in my wife's vehicle and it was expensive to fix.

HUD. I definitely thought it was some marketing bullshite, but it is great being able to see speed and map directions without taking your eyes off the lunatics on the road.

I also like the speed limit sign reader.

Traction control and anti lock brakes are largely overlooked nowadays.
