If you go back and read the story, at the time he was asked that question and denied that he was coming to Alabama, he meant it. He had already talked to Moore and told him no. It wasn't until after that point that he talked with Moore again and changed his mind.

Not even Kiffin would take another job in the coaching cycle.
Plus, didn't he burn some bridges with Bama higher ups or something? I doubt they would even pursue him anyway.
