TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tullahoma Police Department is investigating a fatal dog mauling that reportedly left a 50-year-old and his infant granddaughter dead in Coffee County.
According to a report from the district attorney for the 14th District of Tennessee, Tullahoma PD officers were called to a reported dog mauling in the 900 block of East Warren Street at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The report states that officers arrived and observed pitbulls actively mauling an infant.
The officers immediately shot the dogs to stop the attack. Once the dogs were euthanized, the officers confirmed that the dogs had killed 50-year-old James Smith and his 3-month-old granddaughter.
“This was an especially difficult and brutal scene,” the DA said. “Please pray for the family of the victims in this difficult time, as well as the first responders, as they cope with the trauma from what they witnessed.”

Idiots who own pit bulls say, "oh but my dog wouldn't hurt anyone."
So sad for that little baby, but the adults are morons that kept a dog like that around children.

No words can describe the horror they witnessed.

Also:
I can't even imagine how horrible that scene must have been to see.

Has the one last week in Tyler, Texas been posted?

A 23-year old about to graduate college was pet sitting three dogs. She was playing with them in the back yard, when she was attacked.
A deputy responding saw her laying motionless in the backyard. He was then attacked when rushing to her aid. He shot one dog, and the other two ran back inside.
The last update I saw was that a judge signed off on euthanizing the other two.

This happened in my parents neighborhood last year. Breed of peace, indeed.
"WILSON'S MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man taking care of a family member's dogs was attacked and killed by those dogs Monday.
Investigators received a call around 12:40 p.m. from a person saying their neighbor was being attacked by dogs.
Officers responded to a home on Eddlestone Court, which is a residential road less than a mile off Business 70 between Clayton and Wilson's Mills.
Johnston County Sheriff's Office said the 67-year-old was helping a family member who was out of town. Apparently, the dog sitter who was supposed to be looking after the dogs left because they didn't feel comfortable around the dogs.
That's when the family called the man to help. Investigators said he was attacked by the dogs shortly after arriving at the home.
One of the dogs reportedly weighed around 80 pounds. The other weighed around 50 pounds.
Wilson's Mills police officers were the first law enforcement officers to arrive. As soon as they did, the dogs aggressively met the officers at the road.
One officer opened fire, killing both dogs.
Investigators said the victim, who was the father of one of the homeowners, was already dead in the front yard by the time they arrived. The identity of the victim has not been released."

Pits are the Afghan immigrants of the dog world. Seriously, how many more stories like this must we endure before this breed is eradicated?

Just Google “Pitbull kills” and click on “News” in the top Google bar. Stories as recent as yesterday. Wild.

Was it his dog?
the second half of the article makes it seem as if they were his dogs...it also mentions prior interactions with children's services as a possible contributing factor...
quote:
The investigation into what led to their deaths continues, as detectives work to determine if the dog attacks were postmortem, and if there was any violent history with these or other dogs at the house.
The DA also reported that past issues related to the Department of Children’s Services and other “potential issues” are being investigated and may have contributed to the tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon.
No criminal charges have been filed, but they are not off the table, according to the DA’s report.
Tullahoma Animal Control reportedly removed the other dogs from the home for the duration of the investigation.
Anyone with information about the deadly incident is asked to call 931-455-0530.

quote:Chilling detail. Those demons were bad news and the dog sitter knew it. Life saving choice. Must be crazy to make that choice and then hear that those dogs mauled some poor guy to death right after that.

Pitbull defenders are insufferable, obnoxious. You make a false move and something in the pit's brain snaps and it won't stop until it kills you.
Whole breed should be outlawed.

I've told my wife and daughter that if I see a pit roaming free in our yard, I'm grabbing my shotgun and killing it. I'll ask questions later.

Please enlighten us...what should a Pit Bull owner do so that their dog won't attack a human being or another animal?
