Was also considered for Tulane… appears Tulane might have Baker…

Indicator that Tulane has their guy. They've interviewed Chesney (took UCLA), Baker, Charles Huff, Will Hall (their OC), and Napier
Saw some buzz about Hall the other day

Hall would have been a promotion from within and kept continuity. I think Baker being an alum and also supposedly killing the interview made Baker the prime candidate.

Someone needs to get Jonathan Smith. Still think he can be a good coach.

Napier is looking for a G5 where he will have a resource advantage. It was the same thing he did at Lafayette. They ran up credit card debt and had more resources than their peers for that period.
Now they are broke and Napier was proven to be a fraud. He is going to try again at another Sun Belt school, this one with a more permanent resource advantage.

The B10 is really odd with coaching. Many coaches that are considered good really struggle outside of the top programs there.
Fickell, Smith, Fleck, Franklin, Fitzgerald. Cignetti is a complete outlier.
Makes you wonder what the real issue is. I guess Michigan and Ohio State suck up all the talent and resources.

shite that would be a great hire for them.

Could Baker interviewing for Memphis possibly indicate that Tulane passed on him though?
Wasn't Hall the HC at Southern Miss a couple years before when they were extremely bad?

Exactly right. Because his coaching is absolute arse. Not sure why anyone would hire him. Better in an off field role.

JMU cares about football and Napier knows the Sun Belt like the back of his hand. A+ hire, and the type of one that keeps them winning.

The big 10 doesn't really have competition outside of Ohio State and Michigan. Every couple of years Pen. State or Michigan State will put together a solid team. Now adding USC and Oregon, it seems Oregon will be the 3rd big team in the conference.

JMU is a great spot to rehabilitate for Napier as well, getting kind of impatient with Tulane now

I think Baker wants to be a head coach and interviewing at multiple places is just good practice, even if you have a favorite or think you'll land another job.

Was really hoping Tulane would hire Napier. My last hope is that their AD doesn’t budge on hiring someone with HC experience, otherwise it’ll be Baker.

I think Baker interviewed at Memphis to leverage Tulane
Maybe Billy's agent put this out there to do the same?
