Hatred for groups not wanting to assimilate

What's my opinion on the efforts to save a distinctly American subculture?

A. I don't know any Acadians/Cajuns who do not speak English.
B. I don't know any Acadians/Cajuns who consider themselves more French than American (although there may be some, I just have never encountered any).
C. We're the host culture, the immigrating culture assimilates to us not vice versa. To that point, Acadian/Cajun culture was here the US earned its freedom.

The Acadians migrated to French Louisiana mid 18th Century. The US bought French Louisiana in 1803. Even though the Acadians were here first, they've assimilated well. I think they should maintain their culture and language .

We all used to speak German first in Fredericksburg Texas.

The city folk started moving in and fricked things up. Damn shame.

Hate?


That's not quite the right word.

Let's punish foreigners for not assimilating for a couple centuries and then we can talk about bringing back parts of their cutlture.

Little known facts about the Louisiana colony:
More Spanish colonists settled here than French.
Galvez kicked the British out West Florida during the American Revolution.
The architecture in the "French Quarter" is mostly Spanish.
And they don't call one of the oldest neighborhoods in Baton Rouge "Spanish Town" for nothing.
