I don’t understand the joke; is a dig at the UF fans who wanted Kiffin?

I need to find a video of this. I wonder how it landed.

ETA it landed flat.

He added “Lane is a dear friend and I have to poke him on that.”

That didn’t go the way he thought it would go. He accidentally trolled his new fan base with the first words out of his mouth.

But isn’t Sumrall being allowed to coach his team? How is this a joke?

I know I’m a simpleton but I don’t get this statement at all.

I thought that Tulane is allowing him to coach the rest of the season. I’m sure Tulane doesn’t think that Jon will steal recruits to UF. More head to head competition between LSU and OM.

Yeah, you’re right. I thought it was Sexton. Either way, he pretty much controls the entire coaching-hire game, even when he’s doing it indirectly.

Also, Dowdle used to work under Jimmy Sexton at CAA in the coaches division, then he jumped to WME Sports in 2023. So he is following Jimmy's lead.

DID not the Old Miss melt include claims that Kiffin did one of the following:

1. Tell Sumrall to take the Florida job
2. Blocked Sumrall from the LSU job
3 Waited to the last minute so Sumrall would have to choose Florida instead of Ole Miss.

I believe all of them were sky screaming claims made by Oxford, SEC and ESPN media personalities as well as numerous SEC Rant meltdowns.
