Now that he will have the confidence of Kiffin jumping out to a Shock-n-Awe 1st quarter with the goal of going up 2 scores. That will allow Baker to take more chances and dial up those exotic zero coverage blitzes and NFL level simulated pressure we saw against Clemson. As the season progressed an our Offense got more anemic, Baker was handcuffed to play more of a base.

This could get really interesting really fast with Baker and Kiffin being a perfect marriage of styles.

Kiffin is usually good for a top 20 offense. Baker fielded a top 20 defense this year with a trainwreck of a situation on offense.

Both of those combined is a playoff caliber team at minimum.

The offense kept our defense on the field the entire season. So happy we have a competent offensive mind running the show now

Hard to blitz a ton when your offense can’t do a damn thing. Defense gets tired baw

Our defense was outstanding this year. Just hope Baker don’t take the Tulane job

We have a ton of work to do in the portal this offseason.

All of this is dependent on fixing the OL in the portal.

One byproduct of hiring Kiffin could be the take-no-prisoners attitude, no matter the opponent. LSU won't beat the G5 teams and FBS teams 100-0, but doubtful there will be many close calls as you saw from Les Miles teams and this year against La Tech and W Kentucky.

Perhaps If the defense didn’t stay on the field the entire game the numbers would be better

He just did this past weekend. Made Mateer look pedestrian at best.

Mateer looked awful, save for two busted plays on Saturday. You could tell Baker's scheme made him uncomfortable

If Kiffin just makes us an average offense in year 1 depending on a few positions on defense there's a good chance we can be competitive next year in conference. Problem is our schedule is a little tougher.

Yes, Blake will finally get an offense that will give him something.

Very true the O-line alone should be a minimum of 10 paid athletes. I understand the guys on roster were highly rated recruits but their film suggests otherwise and should be processed. My .02

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Baker has been good all year.

Kiffin will get a lot more out of the guys we have now as well. Last year's OL sucked and two of them are starting in the NFL with two others on NFL rosters. We literally had an NFL offensive line and these clown coaches couldn't scheme anything up or get any production from them.

I think it’s worth keeping in mind that Lane’s style (aggressive, lots of tempo, etc.) tends to lead to more possessions for your opponent, which can put more pressure on the defense.

That being said,

I do agree with this. I think an aggressive defensive scheme gives you the best opportunity to get off the field and keep your defense fresh in those shootout type games.

He needs to figure out how to get everyone to play their position and stop giving up big plays.

It will be nice to see the defense cause a big turnover and then knowing the offense will have a good chance to score off that change of possession. I look forward to more TD's and less 3 and outs from those types of situations.

Nothing was more frustrating this season then watching big INT returns like Perk's end up getting us no points, or the least amount of points as possible.
