Trump strategy this week with the very wide ranging edicts

He is spreading chaos in the democratic legal industry. They are now running around like a headless chicken trying to write briefs on stuff that will not happen. Great strategy, Soros funding will be exhausted. SFP will top a million comments. Boasberg will work 24/7 on meaningless injunctions. Schumer and that other dude will be dancing with Mexican hats spinning.
I like it

Or he is flailing about in utter, frustrated impotence.

I would buy this is what he is doing if he was not flipping constantly on his own positions. Seems more to me like management not by a concept but by emotional chaos.

He definitely doesn't mean any of the stuff he is throwing out there (and the 75% plus portion of this board that believes it is doing a great job of revealing just how dumb they are when it comes to Trump), so clearly he has an ulterior strategy here.
It could be what you describe, but surely the Democrats are not as stupid as the rightist populists here who believe he is serious, are they?
Other possibilities are that some more economic information is about to be released about the state of the economy and specifically the effects of the tariffs and he is attempting to create a diversion from that.
Some other news is about to drop that he is distracting from.
Could be old news that he is distracting from (Epstein?).
I don't know. I DO know that there is no 'effing way that he believes that he can do the stuff he's announced that he's going to do over the past few days.

Whenever Trump does try to make massive changes to the fricked up system, there are always conservatives wanting to fight for the status quo.
"We can't do that. There's no point in trying. You're stupid if you want to even try something different."
I'll never understand conservatives. You bitch about how corrupt the system is but then want to debbie downer every time someone makes a move to fix it.
Have you ever considered what could be accomplished if conservatives actually supported the drastic measures required to fix our country instead of just bitching about how we can't get anything done?
Every time Trump makes a big move, the principled conservatives are always the first to tell us how it will fail. Not once do they call their congressman in support of fixing the country. They just always look for a reason for why we can't fix the problems plaguing us.
If I was a bit more astute, I'd think many here want the country to fail just so they can be right in principle.

Very well said 10 wheels.
And not only that, listen to the post. It cant be done, and "he must be trying to divert from bad news on the tariffs".
I got news sport, tariffs brought in 31 billion the last recorded month and the final negotiated tariffs just took effect a couple of months ago. This means the "bought in" inventory at no tariffs will be depleted and we will begin to collect on them as well, And we have all seen the study where, just as predicted, the suppliers are discounting down their price to the importers so they can pay the tariff AND keep their prices low.
In addition we have more Foreign Investment pouring in that we dreamed of.
Im with 10 wheels, get out of the way and let us drive.

As the saying goes, theres always two sides. You have a strange understanding of the word impotence.
Trump has been wrecking the DC political establishment since day one.
Swinging his hard America First dick smashing shite!
Its glorious to watch!

What's the point of engaging in utterly stupid strategy to accomplish that goal that's almost ensured to fail? Seems highly inefficient and a waste.
Why not, you know, go about it intelligently?

Drastic measures that are illegal are still illegal
Drastic measures that are idiotic make those who support them idiots
Have you ever thought about what could be accomplished if this strategy was based around pragmatism, intelligence, and efficiency?

You just described the essence of Politics in America …..

So this has become normalized: a president who does not believe 75% of what he says. How sad.

Look, I'm sorry the Longhorns spoilled your season last night, and I understand it's not a position you've found yourself in but...

You should ask a democrat.

Flood the zone. Why not.
Throw mud in the wall. Some might stick.
Truly outrageous makes moderately outrageous look moderate.
The best defense is an aggressive offense.
Watch the ‘Karens’ squirm and scream. Fun matters.
All standard Trump MO.

The truth of that depends on what "massive changes" we're talking about. If we're talking about the federal government buying into private business—also known as socialism—you're damn right that conservatives fight "for the status quo." Because conservative don't believe in socialism. Same thing if Trump is doing something or other to erode 2nd amendment rights, which he's done or proposed several times. Because conservatives believe in the 2nd amendment.
In this case, I'm not aware of any conservatives "fighting for the status quo." I don't think you'll be able to spin a populist victim narrative out of this one.
For example, no conservative is "fighting" to maintain income taxes. Simple math is fighting to maintain income taxes.
quote:
You bitch about how corrupt the system is
No, that's you populists who are preoccupied with that narrative.
quote:
I'll never understand conservatives.
That's almost certainly true. You never were one and you don't understand the mindset. I can try to explain it to you, but you are almost certainly correct that you are incapable of understanding it. The Cliff's Notes are that conservatives believe in certain principles (like capitalism and free trade and the 1st and 2nd amendments, etc.) and while we may have favorite leaders, the personality in question is not what we follow. We follow the principles. And even if it's our favorite leader who runs afoul of those principles, we'll object.
quote:
Have you ever considered what could be accomplished if conservatives actually supported the drastic measures required to fix our country instead of just bitching about how we can't get anything done?
You populists, on the other hand, regard political leaders as celebrities whose "team" you have joined. You will support anything...ANYTHING they say without question. Without thinking about it, without comparing it to any set of guiding principles or foundational beliefs, without stopping to do some napkin math to see if it's even remotely possible, without any evaluation of any kind, whatever they say, you will rabidly support it, like a bunch of stupid sheep.
As posted above, no person is blocking Trump from these silly pronouncements of late. Math is, the constitution is, but no political opponents are.
The problem is that Trump could announce that he's going to walk on water across the Atlantic Ocean and when he got to Lisbon it would mean that no one in America would ever have to pay taxes again and y'all would not only believe he could do it, when he didn't, you'd blame conservatives for not believing in fairies hard enough.
But I get it. That's populism. Nothing anybody says will make a dent in it.
quote:
If I was a bit more astute, I'd think many here want the country to fail just so they can be right in principle.
That's true. Those people are called populists. On both sides of the aisle.
I know this is a waste of time, but Trump doesn't mean any of these things. He knows they are impossible. That's why he's releasing these tweets about them during Thanksgiving. This is an obvious ploy to misdirect.
I don't know what his strategy is. It could be a good strategy aimed at political opponents. It could be just to wind y'all populists up so that you forget about something else.
But if you think he's serious, you are simply not intelligent. Sorry, but that's as polite as I can be about it.

Exactly. Some folks are so infected with TDS that they can't see the method to Trump's madness. Trump is doing EXACTLY what the majority of voting Americans asked for.
Yet the same fools around here continue to predict his demise.... the same fools that told us our votes didn't matter and Trump coukd never win the election! lol
Trump won and continues to win and America is better for it.
