All makes sense. Borrego had Lamelo in Charlotte when he made an all star team. And we know the Warriors love Trey and Herb. Have to assume this also includes Zion going out somewhere as Kuminga and Zion never made sense. Could be a roster flip type of season.

Why would the Pelicans want Kuminga? Why would they want to ship out the incredibly good contracts of Murphy and Jones?

Hasn’t Lamelo missed just as much time as Zion?

Yes, he is always injured. Kind of hard to assess Lamelo because of the team he plays for and he does miss a significant amount of games.

A lot of good these "good" contracts are doing for our w/l record

Lamalo is ALWAYS hurt. Why would we want to do that?

quote:Murphy is wildly overpaid for what he does on the floor. Herb has not improved all that much on offense and is appropriately paid. That said both of them could greatly help a contender, especially one that doesn’t care about the tax.

it would be a bad look though and yet another instance of fraudulent team building if either are traded for anything other than draft picks and expiring salary. We already have Poole and Murray eating up massive salary as vets, along with fat boy. We need a tear down and reset

If you can get Kuminga (who is younger) and their 2028 pick and one swap, why not?

Buying low?
Ball, Kuminga -> Pelicans
Murphy -> Warriors
Murray & Picks -> Hornets

Dumars shouldn’t be allowed near a trade
Nor should he be employed

I would guess the Warriors AND the Lakers....would BOTH find Herb to be more valuable than Trey...given their current roster situation. I'm NOT saying another team wouldn't see more value in obtaining Trey...than in getting Herb...but it's just a rather unique situation...for Warriors and Lakers.
January 15 is a looong way off...when considering "moving" Herb...things could totally change...by then.

No way Joe Dumars is this dumb?

Joe going to give up 2027-2029 unprotected 1sts. He’s going to finish off the franchise.

We'd still have to get a couple firsts back if trading Trey

Trey for Kuminga and 2 firsts
Zion and a first for Lamelo
Then figure out a way off of Murray eventually. I'm open to a Herb trade as well.
Lamelo is healthier and a better player than Zion. He also fits the modern NBA
Lamelo
Fears
Kuminga
Queen
Missi
Karlo, Bey, Jose, Peavy key role guys off bench
Still have Herb and Murray pieces to trade or keep
It's not perfect, but it's better. Griff fricked up for 6 years. Otherwise our team would look something like
Hali
Maxey
Herb
Trey
Sengun
Plus others

I think its more likely we trade Z to CHA > trade for LaMelo. You can't justify it after trading away an extra 1st and not having a sustainable contending team for LaMelo to join. We would give up too much.
Full reset anyone?
GSW: Trey/ Hawk/ Missi
CHA: Zion/ Herb/ Jose/ B Hield
PELS: Kon/ Kuminga/ Sexton/ G Williams/ J Green/ P Conn/ Gary P/ 26' CHA/ 27' MIA/ 28' DAL/ 26' GSW/ 28' GSW
Trade a 28' 1st for Kessler and you have a full rebuild with:
Fears
Kon/ Bey
Kuminga/ Peavy
Queen/ Karlo
Kessler/
(2) 26' 1st
(2)27' 1st
(2) 28' 1st
Plus Poole/ Murray as assets.

He’s played in fewer than 52 games in 4 of his 5 seasons.
You can’t do anything with a main guy that misses 30+ games year in and year out.
