One thing being overlooked, schedule matters.

Ole Miss has played TWO currently ranked teams this year.

ND has played Three.

I didn’t check Texas Tech or BYU, etc. I’m sure it’s the same way.

LSU is about to play its FIFTH.

I think this is a part of the struggle. Just last year Ole Miss lost three games with their most talented team.

They lost to the only two ranked opponents they played in 2022.

2021 they lost five games.

It looks like the easier your schedule the more perceived success you have.

If we only played two ranked teams this year, we may be in the playoff hunt and the coach may not be fired. Maybe we don’t have so many injuries. Not defending BK. I just think who you play no longer matters.

That’s true in general, but we also scored 13 on WKU

The huge conferences have somehow made it easier to duck big teams.

the key to making the CFP is not playing any good teams.

But also being a good team and winning games usually hurts your opponents’s ranking

if we beat OM we’d be ranked right now with 3 losses most likely

Bama has also played 5 ranked teams. And won 4 of them.

We need to stop bitching about the schedule and just get our program to a place where we can compete with anyone and everyone.

Nobody I know overlooked Ole Miss’ schedule.

If BK had done his job, Ole Miss wouldn’t be a playoff team, and maybe LSU would be.

But Kiffin has Ole Miss playing at a level that’s consistently higher than they’re normally at. Within a score of UGA in Athens this year.

The only good news about Verge being promoted is: the worst scheduler in the league has failed upward. Someone else gets to do the job.

Normally I agree with you but this Lsu team is terrible. They couldn't score 30 points vs air.

Our quarterback and O line are horrible. That’s why LSU is not going to the playoffs.

Aggie too

Ultimately, their schedule was fairly easy with LSU being down

To be fair, one of the reasons they’ve only played 2 currently ranked teams is because they beat us.

We’d be ranked had we won that one.

They also beat Oklahoma which is a really good win by any measure

So if LSU somehow is able to win that fifth game against a ranked opponent, does that put the Tigers back in the mix for the playoffs? If not, then this whole schedule discussion is meaningless.

I see scenarios whereby Texas could finish 8-4 this season and still make the playoffs! Well, LSU can also finish 8-4-- what, no playoffs?

Even beating a ranked team doesn’t mean shite in all honesty. Teams are not really ranked by who people feel is the better team. They are ranked by results and records in a league where teams don’t play anything close to equal schedules.

For example,Pitt is ranked but are they really one of the best 25 teams or did they just playa. Shitty schedule?

The rankings themselves are completely flawed especially when they are based on preseason rankings.

Only scenarios I have seen is them beating A&M, being 9-3 and making it in.

It was never about the losses themselves. It was about how unprepared the team was. They were run off the field by Vandy and A&M in a non-competitive way. And, they only scored 13 against WKU.

This is a poorly coached football team that no schedule could have saved. The truth hurts.

Things will be better soon.
