Dirkin or Schumann maybe?

Is there a chance Sumrall is the odd man out in the SEC this cycle?

OM hires Golesh
Florida hires Fisch
Auburn wins the Iron Bowl and keeps DJ

Where would Sumrall go?

Not sure but keeping Durkin wouldn’t be a bad option if they went out and found a good OC.

I think Golesh would be the perfect hire for them but wouldn't be surprised if they go with Durkin.

I fear Golesh going to any SEC team. He will have any of these teams looking stout.

Lakeway?

I actually think jedd Fisch will get florida back to winning 8 plus games a yr. Hopefully he doesn't bring demond Williams with him. That kid is special.

Odds makers have

Durkin as the next one up, followed by Golesh, Drink, Dilly, and Key

Honestly, with the way they've responded to Durkin, I wouldn't be surprised if he go the promotion if Sumrall falls through.

I was told last night by an Auburn booster and former athlete that Sumrall was a done deal. He also said that Kiffin was done for us. TIFWIW

Durkin has to be the backup plan, IMO.

Sumrall will be OM’s coach the second Kiffin announces he’s leaving.

I think Aub keeps Dirkin and gives him a "prove yourself" contract...and I think that would be a wise move

just curious, why do you believe this?

rumors are that his camp has been pushing for the AU gig since even before Freezus got R-U-N-N-O-F-T

Apparently he and his wife loved it when they were there back in 2018.

Sumrall values the AD/leadership situation very highly and is aware that Ole Miss has one of the best AD and chancellor situations according to coaching circles. Ole Miss has a great setup in terms of NIL, support staff, leadership, investment etc. - he tried to model some of what Ole Miss was doing while at the G5 level.

I was texted that info last night...Lane to LSU, Sumrall to Ole Miss...I am confident in the former, but not sure about the latter...

If they do that, then they would have, in six of the last eight coaching hires going back fifty years, hired a coach that no other school wanted.

AU’s last 8 HC hires:

Freezus
Harsin
Gustav
Chiz
Tubs
Bowden
Dye
Barfield

Freezus, Chiz and Barfield definitely were unwanted by any other programs, but most of the others were in the mix for other jobs when AU hired them

not to say that any of those programs were at AU’s level, but they were definitely being considered elsewhere

ETA: Durkin would definitely fall in the “no other P4 but AU would hire him as HC” category
