So, uh, why did we just go through a shutdown over this only to turn around and want to do it anyways

President Donald Trump appears poised to announce a two-year extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, due to expire at the end of December, while setting new limits on who is eligible to receive the tax credits, according to reports.
Without an extension of Covid-19-era Obamacare subsidies, insurance premiums for nearly 22 million American citizens threaten to more than double early next year, a point made repeatedly by Democrats during the recent 43-day government shutdown, who refused to sign a stopgap spending bill that did not address the problem.
The president could unveil his new proposal as early as Monday, according to MS NOW, presenting a new healthcare framework and calling on Congress to send a bill to the Oval Office for his signature as soon as possible.

Probably because they only got a couple month reprieve, nothing was settled, so probably trying to prevent another shutdown; as you knew the Dems would win, they always do.

Great. Now the rest of us have to spend insane amounts of fricking money for healthcare because these lazy c*cksucking motherfrickers don’t want to fricking fix the broken system that is Odumbf*ckCare. Meanwhile, the leeches/Odumbf*ck voters will keep getting free healthcare for them and their nine fricking welfare kids while getting to cut to the front of the fricking line.

Worth it if it means winning the mids.
Dems make a huge win in the midterms and effectively handicap Trump for the rest of his term, the country is finished.
Completely wide open borders. Full benefits to illegals with voting ability.

Fwiw, these people were getting free healthcare with or without subsidies. They just will use the doctor office for an earache instead of emergency room.Until you give hospitals the right to turn non-payers away at the emergency room doors, it will always be that way.

This is why the dems win, repubs are weak and cave in.

You are right, but the emergency room is a huge pain in the arse. This eliminates a lot of frivolous visits.
I’m sure when the details come out we will find that Trump’s proposal cuts off the non-citizens.

The abuse of the emergency room is crazy in this country. It says emergency for a reason. You don't need to go to that mfer unless you are actually dying. People need to stop going for earaches and the flu.

MTG warned about this and Trump raked he over the coals because of it.

Everyone has already got their renewals for 2026.
Do we all get our 8% back ?
Or the Insurance companies will use for kickbacks

Because the base of the MAGA GOP are too dumb to understand the shutdown. It was never about the ACA it was bout making the GOP fold on the filibuster or making them reverse the BBB which was what the Dems were asking in their CR. Trump was always open to giving away more money to be popular.
Trump doesn't care about debt...he'll give checks away and expand programs from here to Kingdom come.
The shutdown was about firing up the base of the Dems before an election. They know how to do this, almost every election some crisis occurs that gets Dems into the street. They lost this one thanks to the GOP being smart enough to not to fold but only after the election had occured.

The amount of money before Obamacare was insane too. I know a radio station owner in the upper Midwest who a decade ago (BEFORE Obamacare) was paying 34,000 dollars a year for a family of four and he was afraid it would go up because one of his kids was showing signs of a pre existing condition (thank goodness with more testing that proved to be a false alarm).

How does Obamacare get anyone in ahead in any line? That is not true. Plus its not like those babies would not exist, they just would be sicker or clog up emergency rooms when they have strep throats rather than be able to go to a local family doctor.
