I am surprised and very pleased that he got a fitting sentence. Usually cops don't serve any time at all unless they unjustly kill someone. And even then a conviction is rare. Bonus points for this happening in a deep red state. It shows conservatives are put out with corrupt agents of the government.

Those Rankin County police departments have a tendency to be corrupt as shite. I am glad another rat got caught.

It's been said that I'm obsessed with bad law enforcement around here. And that's fine. But your (and others) obsession with my obsession is the far greater peculiarity.

Good for the 20 years. Now if the violent criminals could get similar sentences the USA woukd be in much better shape.

He should serve some time but 20 years feels way too much.

20 years for 35k is wild. Couldn't he just work for 2-3 months and pay it back?

Would you give that same option to others convicted of theft or do you just have a soft spot for government employees?

Cops are an extension of the government when they are on the job and wield significant power over citizens. Their punishments should be more severe. It wasn't just theft. It was abuse of his power.

That's probably what he made in a year. How do you expect him to pay it back in 2-3 months?
