Predict Queen's Trajectory

It's bleak times, however if not for both Queen and Fears I likely wouldn't tune into most games.
Regarding Queen, he's shown flashes of brilliance and has me truly excited dreaming of the player he could ultimately become.
So I wanted to know how others view him and what do you think his final form will look like? What player/players does he comp to and what type of stats do you think he'll average?
And please no one bring up the acquisitional cost, we all know and we all know it was a shite trade.

I like him but that trade really screwed is big time. Not a high ceiling either.

Sorry didn’t read the end of your post . Lol

He’s looking like All Rookie team Really impressed. The Joker gave him high praise so did Tim Duncan

Nobody wants to admit that whatever generational star we could have taken with our protected 1st would likely come here and pout and fake injuries before eventually being traded

If your looking for absolute ceiling stats?
28 ppg
10 rbpg
8 apg
1 blk
1 stl
Splits I’m thinking 50/33/80

My projected ceiling for him:
34mpg
26 ppg (shooting 55/30/80)
12 rpg
6 apg
2 stocks
He's shown to be a better scorer than sengun, but he has an offensive repertoire like boogie did. Better defender than both, I'm shocked about that.

He can be a top-15 player, if he keeps developing his game. No guarantees obviously, but he has the skills, attitude, and defensive ability to get there. I can see him making some all-NBA teams in his career.

Two of the best to ever do it know ball. It’s crazy that Willie said there weren’t enough minutes at the five. I guess it was difficult because Queen was injured going into the season but damn. I’m glad he’s showing out. I don’t know what his ceiling is but just a few games into his rookie year and he’s been impressive.

He went at Joker and held his own in like his 15th game ever. He has a HIGH ceiling.

DQ looked like Jokic while playing Jokic . He did the same with Wimbly, he went right at him.

Be wary of getting numbers on bad teams
Conversely, it’s better then not getting numbers at all

I hated the trade as much as anybody, but not a high ceiling? Come on man, that's silly. The upside is certainly there.

Yeah there's definitely a silver lining there. Considering how often we fail I'm completely ok with "failing in the trade" if it leads to success. We can "lose" that trade and still find success. Up to this point we just fail and have no bright spot on the other side.
Just because something goes "wrong" doesn't mean the alternative will end up better.

Clearly Dumars thought he had a generational talent he couldn’t pass up. So far it looks like he’s right. The question will become: was Queen a top 4 2026 pick? Time will tell.

One thing I will give Weaver credit for is that he doesn't seem locked into one type of prospect.
Like completely focused on hyper athleticism or the opposite, just skill and intangibles.
Fears is more Morant, Westbrook athleticism, speed and finishing.
Queen definitely is more of the plodding Jokic, Luka, Sengun type with elite IQ, footwork, touch and vision.
I think Queen has tremendous upside.
Two things will determine if he becomes elite or just good.
1. Outside shooting - He needs to become a consistent threat from 3
2. Not being a total liability on D
I feel pretty good about both. He's never going to be elite on D but neither is Jokic, Sengun, Luka, etc. He's smart and craft enough to get by.
I think he has tremendous upside.
As for Queen, I actually think the exact same two areas need to be developed.
3 point shot and D. I'll also throw in decision making. He's so young though that again, I think he will improve in all these areas.
I really like his little step back jumper. That's not a skill most players his age have.

Both true. I’m very encouraged by how well he does the little things though. High IQ too. Those translate to winning ball.

Yea and we'll be able to look back and see if it really hurt us in a few years. We will know where the pick would have been, know which player we would have drafted (or at least narrow it down to a few), and be able to see how those players pan out as well.
Same way you can look back at the #4 for #8/14 trade.
We could be looking back and really really be kicking ourselves or we might look back and see that next years draft is another 2013 draft.

Great thread. I’m with the majority who see a really high ceiling, held back only by limited athleticism and good but not overwhelming height/length. Could you ever see DQ as first or second All NBA? I don’t think so, but how crazy is it that we can even ask the question.
Here is something to think about, say at the midpoint of the season: where would DQ have been drafted if there was a redraft? I suspect all will agree he would be MUCH higher.
