First time I haven’t been anxious about a coaching search

If it’s Kiffin. Great!
If it’s Dillingham. Great!
If it’s freaking Eric Morris from UNT. That’s awesome. Let’s see what he does with the NIL and resources we have.
Because that’s the crux of the issue. Recruiting is not what it was 10 years ago. Find an identity of your football team with someone who can coach and lead and fill it with the best talent from the state of Louisiana money can buy.
Get someone who is emotionally invested in this program that hires a legitimate strength coach and get back to the identity that made us great

Easy to say until we hire someone that was on nobody's board
Cautiously optimistic is where I'm at

What if it's Coach Ogre on a prove it contract? (One rumor)

Yeah, it's the third one in a decade. At this point I've seen it all and know not to worry or get excited about anything until the coach is sitting at the press conference.

They should have hired Lane 10 years ago. If they miss here, I’ll be pissed.

He already got his prove it contract. then he got an extension. then he fricked it all up.

Speaking for myself only
If LSU were to hire Jimbo, O, Frank or Baker it would signify the end of my support
NIL has already dented it somewhat

Yeah and the people of Louisiana also voted for EWE four times.

I agree.
First year I'm just open and seeing what happens. I just want someone young, hungry, with a great offensive system who knows how to win big games.

Maybe so, but without Coach O we don’t have 2019, so that one year was worth all the other shite in my opinion. We won with Les Miles as well. The talent is here. Different now because of NIL, but we should always have a steady base of players able to compete in top half of SEC.
I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect/want LSU to make the playoff 3 of 5 years. There are certainly more than one coach that is capable. Hopefully, we find the right fit.

Just get someone thats is hungry and preferably an offensive mind that can take care of one side of ball that is willing to put in the work it takes to get to championship level

Lane would have atleast two in the last 10 years if he came here in 2016

Has a school ever fired and rehired someone for the same position? Let alone one of the worst coaches of all time?
That would definitely be the end for me.

Think we get through the first half of the first game without calling for the new Coach's head?

Like you, I am not on the edge of my seat. LSU’s coaching hires have not been stellar. Since 1984, LSU has had only two coaches that someone else wanted to hire after they came here - Saban and Arnsparger. Not a great track record.
Make no mistake, coaching is the differentiator. NIL has leveled the playing field and you have to have good coaching. The days of someone like Jimbo, Les, or Ed raising the hardware are over. Fingers crossed LSU’s butt lands in butter and we hit the mark for the first time in 25 years.
PS - before you bring up Miles, read this:

PS - before you bring up Miles, read this:
quote:No call, no love, no offer
But before Miles agreed to take it, he asked Michigan to show him the love, to show him something - anything really - that indicated he would be the next Wolverines' coach. He got silence in return.
