Would LSU be more appealing if Baton Rouge cleaned itself up?

Kind of a different thought here we go.

I realize there’s only so much you can do but the drive from the airport to campus ain’t exactly picturesque.

Then if you take highland from downtown to campus, that’s a shitshow.

Outside of campus, this city is not pretty at all compared to other SEC cities.

You pair that with the crime.

If LSU can’t land Kiffin and usually has trouble actually getting “their guy”, how much blame should be put on city officials?

All the neighborhoods around campus need to be gentrified on purpose

There are some very nice areas and clusters of neighborhoods in BR. I almost never go to the area between campus and downtown.

Baton Rouge is pretty nice if you have money and can live in your own bubble

That kind of money insulates you from nearly all the quality of life issues ordinary people face. He can helicopter in from Mandeville every day if he wants to.

How? I've thought about this off and on for years. I think you'd at least 2 more bridges across the River. And you'd need to redo all the exits between 10-110 split and 10-12 split.

No WAY any of that's getting done in any of our lifetimes.

I totally get that certain areas are nicer.

I guess I’m more so talking about the cleanliness. This city is a dump. I’m not saying other SEC cities are perfect by any means but when I drive them, they are all much nicer than what we have here. It’s easy to see why other cities are more appealing to live in.

I just think the city officials should fricking care more in how Baton Rouge looks.

The widening of I10 between Highland and Dutchtown and the revamped College exit at the split honestly didn't take as long as I thought they would considering the magnitude of the projects. And that exit at Pecue is almost done too.

For better or worse interstate projects usually get done well. Surface roads however...

Just don't go down Highland from the interstate. Get off and on at Dalrymple! Either that or take Acadian/Standford. I lived right at Nicholson and Burbank, and I never went up Nicholson or Highland.

No. Its a $50M for 5 year MINIMUM deal for the next coach. That's what makes it appealing. After that, any coach worth a shite is only concerned about his NIL budget, how much frickery will he have to deal with to get it/keep getting it, how many big fast strong kids play high school ball within the state and the facilities needed to make them bigger faster stronger.

75% of them will tell not ask their wife where they are going and when they are leaving, After doing the math, the wives will agree to figure out the rest when they get there.

Find me a major city that doesn't have its problems. Not saying it doesn't have its problems, but so do places like Austin and Nashville that have been growing like crazy in recent years.

Plenty of nice areas of town. The problem is that traffic absolutely sucks, and you go through Somalia or Baghdad while migrating between nice sections of town.

I am a BR guy. I can drive you from the Miss River by Vet School to the Amite River in Saint George and go through nothing but nice areas or nice commercial areas). Nicer homes than you'll see in Gainesville or Starkville or Oxford or Tuscaloosa...new homes and older well-kept homes. Many, many well-kept neighborhoods with very nice homes all across the southern part of EBRP.

Great schools all over BR albeit most are private/Catholic/Episcopal/Lutheran as well as several very good high schools like BRMHS, Catholic HS, St Joseph's Academy, U-High, Dunham, and Episcopal. Zachary schools are very good if you want a far northern burb in EBRP.

Yes, BR has nasty places just like Oxford and Gainesville and Tuscaloosa and Bryan-College Station. But if you move here and have a good income (prospective LSU coaches for example) you wont be spending any time in the hood.

Well yeah of course it would but don’t you think if Baton Rouge COULD clean itself up, it would have done it already??
