Nostalgia for old style hanging up on somebody

This is truth. There was a feeling of satisfaction that came with slamming the receiver down.

And thebesy part is knowing that the person in the other end knew they just got the phone slammed on them.

Truth.
But there is also joy in holding a cell phone back and listening to someone yammer and screech on with your finger hovering above the red icon and touching it at a pivotal moment in the one-sided conversation, even if you have to make the moment yourself with: “Are you done now?” And then maybe an, “OK. Bye!”

I hung up on my wife once.
Once.
I do not recommend.

It would half arse ring when you slammed it if you did it right.

That and the dialup modem handshake squeal are pure nostalgia.

That dull angry ring of the bell. The mechanic crash of Bakelite on metal (or more Bakelite).
Payphones were even more satisfying.
Not even worth the dime.

Yes. And those old phones were built heavy enough to not break.

You can still do it. The phone on my desk at work gets slammed down every once in a while. The handset doesn't quite have the heft of older phones, but it can still feel cathartic.

Along with the anonymity that facilitated the prank call.

Underrated stress reliever.

My dad and grandfather owned a business together, my grandfather would piss my father off while on the phone. Dad destroyed many a phones…

There’s an app for that.

one of the rudest things you can do, imo, unless it's a telemarketer

That was the 70s/80s equivalent of a Karen move.
It was for the purpose of putting on a show for people in the room. It just sounded like a loss of connection to the people on the other end.
