Why not just sign the extension? Supposedly Ole Miss is willing to make him the highest paid coach in CFB and give him a huge NIL fund. If you’re staying why not quietly sign it and say ‘thank you?’ Doing this open flirtation with other schools will only make his job harder next year if he goes back. It’s just not how someone acts if they are planning to be there next year. I think he’s gone and trying to keep a lid on it until after the Egg Bowl at least.

It could be as simple as negotiating more NIL from Ole Miss.

But it's more likely that he is deciding between LSU or lessor options.

Lane making a fool out of LSU and Florida… Lane know those arrogant smart arse comments won’t fly down here when he missing the playoffs … this job too intimidating for that fake tough guy shite… If he goes anywhere it’s to Florida… they’ll allow 5-7 seasons

This right here. From my understanding, everyone who is signing extensions right now are Trace Armstrong clients or clients of other agents. Sexton isn't telling any of his people to sign anything so Lane can reset the market and get everyone else a huge raise. They would lose their leverage if Lane signs an extension right now.

Im starting to think how this is not a good move because do you really want to piss off LSU and Florida if youre Jimmy Sexton? I guess hes that powerful where you dont care.

Sounds bitter when he’s currently 10-1

You do it if you didn’t get the financial commitment you were hoping for. Not just for his contract but for his assistants and NIL

He is bigger than one or two single SEC schools, which is sad.

I would love the SEC ADs ban together and quit hiring people he represents. The SEC is far more powerful than Sexton.

Sexton is playing for the biggest contract, not to make fools of anyone. He’s got too many clients to piss off big suitors.

Lane, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about making a fool of anyone.

When you're paid millions of dollars a year, a few more doesn't mean much in your day to day life. What does mean more is having a better program/better resources AND being paid more.

Big decision for him, he's trying to make the right one

Unless it was orchestrated to screw over LSU and Florida, two schools where the admin is already in somewhat disarray.

Considering the shite storm we were just in with not having a president, AD, or HC, I don't think we're exactly in a place to be giving someone like Lane the hard arse treatment.
