Nick Saban coaching at 74 is perfectly believable

Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll are both still coaching into their 70's...Mick Jagger is still touring at 82...and Al Pacino impregnated someone at 83...
With Viagra and testosterone shots and Minoxodil, 74 is the new 64. And he still colors his hair so he hasn't exactly mailed it in yet.
As for the awkwardness that he may have to coach against Bama on Saban Field in Tuscaloosa, that wouldn't be an issue until the 2028 season at the earliest if he would return to LSU.
And finally, I think he hates the fact that his last play as a coach was when Milroe got dropped after running right into a lineman's big arse...
Nick Saban coaching at 74 is not outrageous...Not that I think it will happen.

Saban could still coach another 5 years if he really wanted to. His mind is still there. He still has fire in him. He still has passion. Even if he had none of those things anymore, the respect he still would warrant alone would be enough for him to still be a leader of men, and be in a big position of power.

saban has been coloring his hair since michigan state. go look at old pics of him wearing glasses and that gray hair.

Chicken is going to get Bama to pay Saban millions not to coach.

Belichick is 4-5 & Pete Carroll is 2-7.

Ummm, what's gonna happen if he pulls a Belichick and drives us even further into irrelevance?

Belichick is 4-5

And if Nick envies anyone on this planet, it is Belichick.
The burning question is, Chicken, why would he quit, have regrets/second thoughts and not just go right back to Bama? He's not above pushing someone out of his way (*cough* Mike Shula *cough*) to get the job he wants.
Why would he risk his legacy? He has little to gain/prove and a lot to lose.
Having said all of that, I still agree with your premise, which is why I led with Belichick - that is the MAIN reason why I think it is plausible.

Belichick also never proved he knows how to operate a college football program. Saban is the GOAT.

His legacy is cemented. Everyone just forgets the last few years of athletes or coaches if they are unfavorable.
5-10 years from now nobody will reference UNC when talking about Bill Belichick

and its not working out for either of those. tarnishing their legacies imo

Chicken, is this your way of making some sort of play to open Saban up to the idea of coming to LSU?

This is dumb. Shula was fired just after the Auburn game in 2006 after three straight losses. He was like 0-4 against Auburn. He got himself fired. Saban was hired all the way in January 2007.

I don't necessarily think it's an age thing as much as a comfort and priorities thing. Coaching LSU at this point is a huge undertaking that would require 18 hour days for the next 3-4 years. He'd have to either uproot his whole family to move here or be away from his family 300+ days a year.
Besides a crazy paycheck, where's the motivation?

ETA: Not even mad about it. Let the coaching committee do its thing, keeping the media out of the loop is both positive for LSU and the potential coach.

There is NO possibility that Saban is coming to LSU.
There is NOTHING that LSU could offer that Alabama did not offer to keep him . . . where he was already plugged in, hooked up, and completely connected.
He does not need the money. Saban is worth about $80 million.
He gets paid multi-millions from "College GameDay"; he makes about $5 million per year from endorsements; and of course, none of this includes his percentage of the $2 billion in revenue from Dream Motor Group
Nick is 74. His father died at 46 from a heart attack. He's not leaving home except to get paid to TALK about football, play golf, and go to mass.
