Is it still considered a vest or does it turn into a jacket?

Depends on how many people have purple hair where you live.

Still a vest. The only time this rule applies is when a midget wears shorts.

It’s still a vest.

A vest is a jacket with no arms. References the garment and not the person wearing it.

Essentially even a t-shirt is a jacket with no arms

Further question….why would the zipper or buttons need to be in front?

No, it's still a vest, just on the floor.

Could legit be just a sweater, too...

Just a nugget for thought.

Before determining whether it remains a vest or becomes a jacket we have to figure out how the hell he's going to button or zip it up with no arms.

I remember that bit from Steven Wright...although he phrased it, "Snakes don't have arms...which is why they don't wear vests."
