Always appreciated hearing this dude talk when he wasn't leaning into the douchebag coach schtick.

Now that he is out of the game he is speaking more freely and it's interesting.

He also gives LSU's team and fanbase some love around the 9:00 mark.

He all but said LSU is strategic with how they spend money while Aggy and UTranny just write blank checks for their chance at relevance.

Hes a smart guy and an enjoyable speaker. Wouldn't suprise me to see more coaches leave the college game for professional (all sports) . Sark being floated around. Coaches are gonna get tired of this BS

Real men can get pst the douchism and appreciate TV for the insightful and respectful dude he is.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot of real men on TD.

TVDS is a real thing.

Two things can be true. He can still be a douchebag, and say insightful things. ;)

At the risk of offering a cool story bro.....I was overserved at the Sunday Tenn game this year and had seats behind the plate nearer the Tenn dugout. My wife will attest I am way too loud when I speak in any environment, much moreso in a hot as hell, gin fueled blowout of a bunch of chirpy softball types who bitch incessantly.

On this particular day, while certainly obnoxious, I kept the language clean. And according to the gin, I was also witty, charming. and a joy to be around. Which lead me to basically have a running one way dialogue with Vitello from the first pitch. By the 5th, my wife had retired inside the club level for distance from me and air-conditioning. This was the equivalent of taking the training wheels off a kids bike. Not proud, but I didn't lose sleep either. When they were in it early the loudest twenty people in the Box were the Tenn bench guys yelling like a bunch of kids on the playground, so that didnt help. So after a shite ton of mound visits by TN and three plus hours of this, the game is pretty much decided in the 8th, im beginning to lose my voice but not motivation and after ANOTHER mound visit, for the at least 20th time, I yelled at Tony to stand up as he stood on the top dugout step. Only this time I added Jay, loan him your step stool. Vitello bends over laughs and nods.

After the game I am lingering talking with friends, and he comes within a few feet of us near the backstop and I tell him something along the lines of good game coach have a safe trip back to Knoxville, he glances over and says ANYWHERE is better than listening to your fricking arse all day and grins.

I hate the little fricker. But I respect him. Even moreso after he was able to give it back a little to a loudmouth moron after getting a beatdown and losing a series.

I see Vitello like Tebow…,,both were great and I hated them when competing against them. The flip side is I’d want them on my side any day of the week.

Of course. Pro sports provides a better quality of life. In the professional ranks, the coach doesn't have to constantly travel to recruit his roster 365 days a year. He also doesn't have to recruit is current players to stay beyond one season. He doesn't have to deal with his players constantly trying to leverage him for a new "contract". Sometimes on a weekly basis.

As a pro coach you get an actual offseason. In college you win a championship and have to turn around the next day to recruit new players. And the job security is no better than in the pro leagues

Most coaches just want to coach. The pros allows them to do that more than in college where they are forced to be HC, recruiter, fundraiser, and GM,
